Best Camera of 2015

The camera is the best of both worlds. It can shoot high resolution pictures and 4k video in one tiny package. There are some drawbacks like poor selection of native lenses, the jello effect with videos and some autofocus issues, but the positives outweigh the negatives of this camera.

Camera Review: Sony A7R II

Digital devices often look good on paper but don't always follow through to meet the promises of their specifications. Not so with the Sony a7R II , which is chock full of features, technology and performance enhancements that held real promise when first announced.

Excellent image quality; extensive feature set; 5-axis image stabilization; fast and accurate AF; good noise performance at high ISOs

Relatively slow buffer clearing; slow start-up; rolling shutter in 4K crop mode; pricey

Sony A7R II Review

Looking back at the launch of the first A7-series cameras very much reminds me of the first time I picked up a Fuji X-Pro1 when it was just introduced. The cameras felt too experimental, with all kinds of bugs, quirks and annoying problems, some of which many of us considered "deal breakers".

Sony a7R II Review

This was released on December 18, 2015. Since that version I have not experienced any overheating problems when shooting documentary/event 4k video with the A7RII.

Sony's a7R II is a top shot among full-frame mirrorless cameras

Comparing the cameras in Sony's a7 full-frame interchangeable lens mirrorless camera series can be confusing. For one thing, the models have similar names like a7 II, a7S and a7R. Each of the models also has its own strengths. The latest Sony a7R II still sounds a mouthful.

Sony A7R II Mirrorless Camera Review (Full Resolution Test Images)

Sony's A-series cameras have gotten a lot of coverage in the photo press in the last few years with the recently introduced Sony A7R II receiving the kind of the pre-release hype not seen since the launch of the Canon 5D Mark II back in 2008.

Love Letters to Our Favorite Gear of 2015

On a recent flight to Europe, I bonded permanently with my Sony A7RII , the increasingly legendary new full-frame mirrorless camera. It happened over New York City, when opportunity scrolled slowly into view shortly after departing from Newark.

Sony Alpha 7R II Review

The last time I laid hands on a Sony Alpha 7R was just after its launch, and at the time I remember holding onto what felt like something truly special. The Alpha 7R stood out from all other cameras for a number of reasons.

+ Stunning image quality with high levels of detail; + Refined body design with improved handling characteristics; + Wide autofocus coverage across the frame; + Superb 5-axis image stabilisation to correct for camera shake

Large file sizes; Low battery life (290 shots using viewfinder; Lacks touchscreen functionality

Sony A7R II

The Sony A7R II is the second generation of a series that set out to prove how serious a compact system camera can be. With a full-frame sensor, the range has offered image quality similar to some of the very best DSLRs, such as the Nikon D810 and Canon 5DS R . All this remains true of this series.

Fantastic resolution; Great higher ISO performance; Effective OIS

No flash unit; Limited battery stamina
