Sony Alpha A7 III

Not too big, but not too small. It's just right! The Sony Alpha 7 III combines ease-of-use with a range of the latest features you expect in a modern camera.

A More Than Capable Compact

The images coming out of this compact camera punch well above their weight in terms of quality. They're the sort of images you'd expect from a full-frame camera and are made possible thanks to Sony's newly developed back-illuminated image sensor and evolved image processing system.

Instant recall

My Menu offers instant recall of your favourite settings, so you can snap in a flash without missing a thing. Simply create and customize an optimal menu based around your preferences and be ready to shoot in no time.

Better Battery Power

When you're out and about capturing one great image after another, battery longevity is crucial. The good news is that the A7 III can use an NP-FZ100 battery, which gives you more than two times the capacity of a NP-FW50 battery. This allows you to shoot up to approximately 710 photos with one full charge.

Built For Speed

Another surprising feature of this compact camera is its speed: the Sony Alpha 7 III offers high-speed continuous shooting of up to 10 fps (frames per second).

Exceptional 4K Video

This is the video age, where the moving image is just as important as the still photograph. Yet again, the A7 III over-delivers with 4K video recording over the full width of the sensor. No more cropped video! What you get is video of exceptional clarity, colour and detail.

Good value

Everything came as expected and got here quick. Half of the items are really cheap but I expected that, but the other half are a really good value. It did come with 2 Sandisk Extreme Pro SD cards. That alone is worth the extra hundred this kit costs. The camera bag is small but of good quality.

Sony A7 Mark III Camera Body ILCE7M3B review

Overall, if you’re looking for a camera that has great autofocus, then the is the one. The image quality is also stunning, and it comes with a full-frame sensor. It also comes with a rechargeable battery and is really flexible. It can allow you to customize the features according to your liking.

Has a great battery life; Features a 693-point AF system; Equipped with an extremely fast autofocus; Comes with an uncropped 4K video quality; Full-frame sensor with exceptional image quality

Touchscreen control is limited; Not as weather-resistant as other models

Sony A7 Mark III Camera Body ILCE7M3B review

As it was launched in February 2018, the Sony A7 III is getting on a bit but it remains an excellent all-rounder. Its high-quality 24Mp full-frame sensor delivers superb images in a wide range of conditions and its viewfinder and screen provide a good preview so you know what you're going to get...

Good-quality 24Mp full-frame sensor; Excellent autofocus system; Attractively priced in the full-frame market

Minimal use of the screen's touch-sensitivity; Tilting rather than vari-angle screen; Complex menu

Sony a7 III review

The A7 III manages to pull off a lot of technology and desirability in a body which costs less than £2000 - an excellent price point for dedicated enthusiasts. While when the A7 range came out there wasn’t much in the way of a lens selection to work with, there’s now over 25 available, with yet more from third party manufacturers. Short of super specialist optics, there’s pretty much something to suit everyone. Here we’ve got a fantastic all-rounder which is well-suited to a bunch of different shooting scenarios. It copes well with landscapes, portraits, and even a little bit of sports shooting. The camera design is probably not the prettiest thing we’ve ever seen, but it handles fairly well for the small size, and that little bit of weight reduction may be a welcome relief for many. This could well be the camera to really kill off “enthusiast” level full-frame DSLRs altogether - or at least seriously injure the beast. We’ll be waiting with baited breath over the next few months to see if old hands Nikon and Canon pull their finger out and deliver their long-rumoured full-frame mirrorless models: they’ve certainly got a lot to live up to.

Incredible value; Excellent image quality ; Good for video ; Speedy autofocus and tracking ;

Small physical buttons; Battery life could be improved;

Sony A7 III, a full-power full-frame for only $2,000

Sony gifted us with a replacement for its 3-year-old A7 II, a solid full-frame that nevertheless needed some updating. As you'd expect, the A7 III incorporates advances that its line mates have gotten over the past couple of years, and it looks like you get everything you need and more for a relatively low price.

Sony's replacement for its entry full-frame mirrorless model gets major boosts to speed, battery life, quality and features.

Sony a7 III Review

The Sony a7 III is a well-priced, well-rounded camera suitable for all kinds of photography. Twenty-four megapixels of resolution is more than sufficient for most tasks, and the 693-point autofocus system and 10 frames-per-second burst speed help the a7 III keep up with fast action. Video quality and feature set is another strong point, though some operational lag, a slightly low-resolution viewfinder and unintuitive video autofocus may turn off some users.

Generalist photographers, wedding, event and action shooters and those that need high quality video.;

Those that need more resolution for detailed scenes or large prints, those that need ultimate build quality for harsh shooting conditions.;

Sony a7 III Review

It didn't take long for Sony to reuse the body design it introduced with last year's high-resolution, pro-grade a7R III in an entry-level model. But despite a friendly (for full-frame) price, the a7 III ($1,999.99, body only) is anything but entry-level when it comes to its feature set. Its BSI CMOS sensor excels in all types of light, and offers incredible dynamic range. It can shoot at 10fps, with an autofocus system that covers almost the entirety of the image sensor. And it has serious video chops too, recording smooth, sharp footage at 4K, and slow-motion at 1080p. It run circles around competing models in this price range, and is our Editors' Choice for entry-level full-frame shoppers. Design The a7 III feels a lot like the a7 II and a7R III in the hand. It measures 3.9 by 5.0 by 2.5 inches (HWD) without a lens, and weighs about 1.4 pounds. Its grip and body design are the same as you get with the a7R III. I find it quite comfortable to hold, even with a larger zoom like th...

The Sony a7 III is an entry-level full-frame camera that goes well beyond the basics in features, with excellent image quality, 10fps subject tracking, and 4K video capture.

24MP full-frame BSI sensor; 10fps with tracking; 5-axis stabilization; 4K HDR video; Silent shooting available; Tilting touch LCD; Dual SD slots; Vastly improved battery; Focus joystick; Flat profiles available

Screen not true vari-angle; Only one card slot is UHS-II; No in-body flash; Shooting buffer must clear to start video; Dense menu system; Omits PC sync socket

Sony A7 Mark III Camera Body ILCE7M3B review

Announcing the Sony Alpha A7 Mark III - Sony had the clever idea of telling everyone, that this was "the b a s i c model" in the Sony Alpha range, and pretty much everyone published this, because it was quite frankly a little bit ridiculous.

Fast and reliable focus, Impressive noise performance, Excellent image quality, Fast continuous shooting, High-quality 4K video recording, Excellent lenses available

Additional aspect ratios would be nice, Menu system could be neater, Most lenses are quite large
