This camera is considered one of Sony’s mid-range models—with the Sony A6000 as its lower counterpart, and the Sony A7 II as it’s higher level counterpart. The specs on this camera aim to impress even the fussiest of photographers. It’s a great looking camera too and is easy to handle & operate. Let’s look at some of the other features.

The battery on this camera is also a feature worth mentioning due to its staying power during your shoots. Your camera battery should be able to last approximately 400 photos in, before the battery needs recharging.

The Sony Alpha A6300 has a 24MP sensor with a shooting rate of 11 frames per second. There’s a built-in flash which has an incredible sync speed of 1/160 seconds. The AF system on the camera is hybrid, and boasts an impressive 425 PDAF points. Among other features, one more is worth mentioning; the OLED 2.36M-dot with a 120fps refresh option which will lend a hand to the quality of your photographs.

In addition to these photography features, the Sony Alpha A6300 also has some convenient video recording abilities. 4K is the hero here, with resolution settings of 3840 x 2160 (30p) and 1920 x 1080 (120p/60p). Although the camera is primarily designed for regular photography, you’ll enjoy the quality of these videos as well.

A newer model Sony Alpha A6400 was released in January 2019.

Sony A6300 review

It's hard to find fault with this camera. Yes, it's expensive (£1,000 body only, or £1,100 with a 16-50mm kit zoom lens), but not crazily so. I'd imagine that there'll be better deals available for the A6300 if you're willing to wait a few months.
Pros:
  • Fast
  • accurate autofocus
  • Great image quality
  • even in low light
  • Invaluable OLED viewfinder
  • Compact
  • lightweight and sturdy build
Cons:
  • Pretty pricey

Good Choice

I've had the A6000 for almost 2 years and decided to get the A6300 after reading all of the reviews by various camera sites and those who purchased the new A6300. I have not had the A6300 long, but am finding it to be true to the many reviews I've read.

Surpasses all expectations

I purchased camera this because I could not afford to upgrade my A7R to the A7R II and wanted 4K Video capture. As well, I liked the idea of having an even more compact camera than the A7R and the A6300 with it's smaller sensor providing a 1.5x magnification of my existing FE lenses, was actually...

Mirrorless finally matches DSLR AF performance!

I moved all my landscape shooting to mirrorless cameras several years ago. Cameras are just tools and I use the best tool for my jobs, which is why I continued with my Canon 1DX and big glass for all my action and wildlife shots.
Pros:
  • Superb Af Performance
Cons:
  • Limited By Consumer Body
