This camera is considered one of Sony’s mid-range models—with the Sony A6000 as its lower counterpart, and the Sony A7 II as it’s higher level counterpart. The specs on this camera aim to impress even the fussiest of photographers. It’s a great looking camera too and is easy to handle & operate. Let’s look at some of the other features.

The battery on this camera is also a feature worth mentioning due to its staying power during your shoots. Your camera battery should be able to last approximately 400 photos in, before the battery needs recharging.

The Sony Alpha A6300 has a 24MP sensor with a shooting rate of 11 frames per second. There’s a built-in flash which has an incredible sync speed of 1/160 seconds. The AF system on the camera is hybrid, and boasts an impressive 425 PDAF points. Among other features, one more is worth mentioning; the OLED 2.36M-dot with a 120fps refresh option which will lend a hand to the quality of your photographs.

In addition to these photography features, the Sony Alpha A6300 also has some convenient video recording abilities. 4K is the hero here, with resolution settings of 3840 x 2160 (30p) and 1920 x 1080 (120p/60p). Although the camera is primarily designed for regular photography, you’ll enjoy the quality of these videos as well.

A newer model Sony Alpha A6400 was released in January 2019.

The a6300 is a tremendously capable camera, whether you're looking to shoot stills or video. Getting the best out of the camera requires a bit of work on the user's part but its sheer capability makes this worthwhile.

Review: Sony A6300 compact system camera is something of a speed demon

Yes, its makers claim the A6300 is the fastest camera on the planet when it comes to autofocus, with its hybrid system and processor engine allowing it to lock onto subjects in just 0.05 seconds. I can't attest to that number myself (sorry, I just can't count that quickly!

Sony A6300 review: The A6300's best-in-class images marred by annoying operation

A respectable update to its very popular A6000 mirrorless interchangeable-camera model, the Sony A6300 remains great but also retains some of the drawbacks of its predecessor. The Sony A6300 experience, as with many of its A series interchangeable-lens camera (ILC) models, feels like soaring through the sky one minute only to smack into a window the next. It flies with a beefed-up autofocus system, excellent 4K video (with supporting features) and improved low-light photo quality over the A6000's already great images. Combined with the usual advantages of an ILC -- smaller body and lenses, better photo preview and more streamlined video shooting -- there's a lot to appeal to enthusiasts who might otherwise buy a fast general-purpose dSLR.
Pros:
  • The Sony A6300 delivers class-leading photo and video quality, plus good performance and features for shooting action.
Cons:
  • Myriad small annoyances mar the experience and it has the trademark poor battery life of Sony's A series. Plus it really could use in-body image stabilization.

Sony A6300 review

Sony may have spent the last few years reshaping the full-frame market with a string of popular compact system cameras, but it's also managed to simultaneously keep its APS-C alternatives relevant and exciting.

Sony Alpha A6300 review

Sony's A6300 is a mid-range mirrorless with an AF system that's the envy of pro cameras costing up to twice the price. It takes the earlier A6000 – no slouch for action photography – and upgrades the weather-sealing and viewfinder, adds 4k video, 1080 at 120p for slow motion and a microphone input,...
Pros:
  • Best continuous AF in its class, Fast 11fps burst shooting or 8fps with live update, Internal 4k video
  • 1080 at up to 120fps for 5x slo-mo, Compact and light, weather-sealed body, Wifi with NFC and downloadable apps
Cons:
  • Screen not touch-sensitive nor fully-articulated
  • Control dials have minimal tactile feedback
  • Screen can't be brightened when filming 4k
  • Maximum shutter speed of 1/4000
  • Smart Remote app needs updating immediately
  • Downloaded apps often have separate menus
  • Reports of rolling shutter
  • but not on...

Sony Alpha a6300

The Sony Alpha a6300 sits at the top of the Sony APS-C camera lineup. It costs £1,000 body-only at release, sitting below the full-frame Sony A7 II . Some will be unable to give up on the idea of owning a full-frame compact system camera, and we don't blame you.
Pros:
  • Solid burst performance
  • Fast AF in most situations
  • Good higher-ISO performance
  • Great image quality
Cons:
  • No in-body OIS
  • 'Entry level' manual controls

Best camera

I had the a6000 for a year, got it with 18-55 and 55-250mm kit lenses for 699.00. Sold it as I was miserable. On paper, the a6000/6300 have great specs and functionality. A compact body, smaller than many m43 but w/aps-c sensor. Why did I hate Sony: 1. The lenses.
