I have had shovel knight for a while, and I think it belongs in my top 5 all time favorite games. I love everything about this game and cant wait for the next installment. Also, the 3D adds a nice depth to the classic side scroller look.

Classic 8bit gaming in the modern age. The game has all of those retro elements you remember. Pixelated graphics, chiptune sounds, and some generally difficult platforming sections.

Anyone who actually lived through the NES days remembers hoping for gaming's future; a gleaming day when games are indistinguishable from cartoons or movies. Now that we've reached that future, ironically, our greatest hopes and dreams involve going back to perfect the low-res 8-bit platformer.

There's always a bit of cognitive dissonance whenever an 8-bit/16-bit throwback shows up on the PlayStation Network, knowing that there's simply no version of the PlayStation where the game would have ever felt native.

In Shovel Knight , the titular character and his partner, Shield Knight, battle evil across the land. Their battle comes to a tragic end with Shield Knight's defeat. Shovel Knight retired to shovel until a wicked group called the Order of No Quarter and its leader, the Enchantress, ravaged the land.

It's shovel Knight, I've bought it digitally on a few different platforms, so buying it physically must say something about the quality of the game. Support indie games that actually care about the gamers experience!

I have never played such a wholesome game. All together it's a beautiful story with fantastic characters....And free DLC ? Yacht Club Games got this right. 10/10
