Sennheiser Urbanite XL Review

When it comes to choosing headphones, Sennheiser have to be right up there among the best. This year the German based company have come out with what I would say would be a treat for someone this Christmas; I'm talking about the Urbanite XL. These are one of two in ...

So far so good, only problem I've had is extended use started to hurt my ears after a while but with a little rest it was fine. Very high quality. Chord is a little too short in my opinion, as I can't stand all the way up with them on or else it'll become unplugged.

Sennheiser Urbanite XL Headphones: Australian Review

Traditional audio brands are often the slowest to adapt to trends, and we're only now starting to see super-fashionable headphones in the same vein as the now-ubiquitous Beats By Dre.

Great sound quality; Extremely sturdy design; Nifty locking headphone cable

Expensive; Imperfect headband design; Uncomfortable for extended wear

Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless Review

At $299.95, the Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless headphones have a lot to offer: a cool design, powerful drivers, and an included audio cable that allows for wired, passive use and even has an inline remote for mobile devices. The audio performance itself is crisp and articulate, but those seeking the massive bass response Sennheiser promises on this product's webpage might be surprised; the Urbanite XL Wireless, like the wired Urbanite XL ($189.95 at Amazon) , offers a far more refined, moderate bass presence than most competing, bass-forward headphone models. DesignVisually, the Urbanite XL Wireless ($189.95 at Walmart)  looks quite similar to its wired predecessor. The canvas-covered headband, matte plastic design, and simple white accents offer a minimalist take on the bulky headphone trend. The adjusting mechanism for the headband is a cable that retracts into the headband itself, allowing the earcups to slide up and down the ends of the band. The Urbanite XL Wireless folds d...

The Sennheiser Urbanite XL Bluetooth headphones deliver a balanced sound signature, but the wireless control panel suffers from design flaws.

Powerful, balanced audio performance with crisp highs and rich lows; Detachable cable with inline controls for wired, passive use

Control panel on right earcup isn't laid out very well; Not for those seeking massive bass response

Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless review: A dynamic Bluetooth headphone

As part of its 2015 line of headphones, Sennheiser is serving up a few different wireless headphones, many of which are based on earlier wired models. Such is the case for the Urbanite XL Wireless, which follows in the footsteps of last year's wired Urbanite XL and carries a list price of $300 (£250, AU$400). It currently only comes in black, but more color options should arrive in the future.

The Sennheiser Urbanite XL is a well-designed, dynamic-sounding Bluetooth headphone that works well with a lot of music -- but not quite everything.

The Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless is a well-designed, comfortable over-ear wireless headphone that offers exciting, dynamic sound with quality bass. Battery life is strong at 25 hours of music playback; features highlights include dual microphones, touch controls and aptX support.

The nylon carry "pouch" is skimpy; has a tendency to make songs that have a grittier edge sound harsher.

Sennheiser Urbanite XL

The Beats revolution has been good for audio fans. Prior to Beats, most people didn't care about their headphones and now, due to their popularity, several companies have redesigned or introduced entirely new lines to cash in on the craze.

Crisp, refined audio performance with a clear, distortion-free bass response; Extremely comfortable; Stylish design

Light on accessories; Not for those seeking booming bass
