Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless review: A dynamic Bluetooth headphone

As part of its 2015 line of headphones, Sennheiser is serving up a few different wireless headphones, many of which are based on earlier wired models. Such is the case for the Urbanite XL Wireless, which follows in the footsteps of last year's wired Urbanite XL and carries a list price of $300 (£250, AU$400). It currently only comes in black, but more color options should arrive in the future.

The Sennheiser Urbanite XL is a well-designed, dynamic-sounding Bluetooth headphone that works well with a lot of music -- but not quite everything.

The Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless is a well-designed, comfortable over-ear wireless headphone that offers exciting, dynamic sound with quality bass. Battery life is strong at 25 hours of music playback; features highlights include dual microphones, touch controls and aptX support.

The nylon carry "pouch" is skimpy; has a tendency to make songs that have a grittier edge sound harsher.

Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless Headphones Review

Big, accentuated bass with a funky, durable design - these aren't your average Sennheisers. The Urbanite XL Wireless headphones ($299) are targeting fans of Beats by Dr. Dre products, offering the signature Sennheiser sound with a hot-bass injection.

Fun, durable design; Solid battery life; Warm, full audio

Loses audio details on certain songs and genres

ver-ear headphones usually suffer from a debilitating sound issue – a lack of bass. With the Urbanite XLs, Sennheiser has tackled the problem head on. Promising massive bass and an intense club sound, the Urbanite XLs certainly talk a good game. The bass is big, no question.

Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless Headphones

Today we are looking at one of the first wireless pair of headphones I've seen from Sennheiser. Sennheiser makes some great wired headphones and I've tried out the wired Urbanite headphones a while back out of a personal curiosity.

High quality construction; Great bass without overpowering the rest of the spectrum; Excellent fit and finish; Modern/Urban look and feel; Works equally well plugged in as wireless; Touch controls on side are nice and intuitive

Not as comfortable as other headphones from Sennheiser; Not for audio "purists

Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless review

If you can afford the price, the Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless headphones provide great sound over Bluetooth, offering punchy bass without going over the top. There are handy features such as NFC, a smart touchpad for controls, and a microphone for calls. Some might find the build is a little on the plastic side, and these headphones are pretty bulky – but that's the street style that Sennheiser is aiming for.

excellent product

Looking for a pair of headphones to use instead of custom iem (not akways practical!). Used with an iPod classic (mostly ripped at 320kps) and a fiio E12 mont blanc portable amp. Very good sound quality, good bass kick without sacrificing detail.

great bass and detaik

slightly small earcups

Sennheiser URBANITE XL WIRELESS BLACK,OVER-EAR

Epic headphones, I wear them all the time with no discomfort, battery life is as (if not longer) than advertised. Range is mind-blowing, they sound good with a great range but still a nice punchy bass. Admittedly they are very pricey headphones, but well worth it for the features!
