Sennheiser RS 220 review

Sennheiser's RS 220 wireless headphones genuinely surprised us: their sound quality is easily on par with the better wired models we've heard, and they have the advantage of being completely wireless.

Sennheiser RS 220 wireless headphones are for the audiophile with the widest wallet

The Sennheiser RS 220 ($599) was conceived as a design statement and uses the same driver elements as the reference grade Sennheiser 600 series of wired headphones . Their plastic construction doesn't feel worthy of the price tag, but the material still feels durable and keeps the weight down to...
Pros:
  • The
  • is a large
  • full-size headphone that uses advanced DSSS lossless wireless technology for exceptional sound quality
Cons:
  • The RS 220's shiny black plastic construction doesn't jive with its lofty price tag and the digital connection doesn't work with Dolby or DTS audio signals

Sennheiser RS 220

Pros:
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Comfortable
  • Long battery life
Cons:
  • Limited range
  • Prone to sound dropouts
  • High price

Practically unusable in the office

Bought them to replace 10 year old RS 130... wow what a waste.. even with the discount of 300$ from original 500$ price they are worthless. Headphones operate in the same band range as all wireless devices, your phone wifi, wireless routers, wireless mouses you name it.
Pros:
  • ...
  • Brand name
Cons:
  • Unusable if you have any other wireless devices nearby

Awesome Sound, When You Stay Put

Wireless headphones have come a long way over the last few years, and Sennheiser was one of the first companies to introduce a set of high-quality cans for those of us who like listen and move beyond the tether range of a headphone cable.
Pros:
  • Lossless audio offers fantastic sound quality
  • Cushiony ear pads make for comfy long-term wear
Cons:
  • Patchy wireless range kills the awesome sound buzz fast
  • Plastic shell and vinyl pads seem a bit chintzy for the price.

I purchased this product back in summer of this year after waiting more then 8 months for a western Canadian retailer to get stock. I read many reviews beforehand with many positive experiences which was a large factor in the purchase.
Pros:
  • Very good audio fidelity for a wireless product
  • comfortable to wear for extended periods
  • good build quality
  • batteries last for 6-8 hours on average using standard aaa rechargeable
Cons:
  • Extremely sensitive to RF interference even at very close range
  • expensive for a product with such an obvious flaw
