Bass of the Sennheiser 600 series

Compared several in this price range. Open back is more "open" sounding. Can be driven by IBASSO DX 160 well. Sounds crisp. Bass not overwhelming.

The Best

I have had many h/phones over the years LCD 3 HD800s and so on but pound for pound nothing matches HD 650 and now the HD660s.In my opinion they are the best by far in this price range and a fair bit above. I know it is a matter of preference.

Sennheiser HD 660 S: A classic headphone, reimagined

Going by Hollywood's release schedule, remaking old films is big business; forget novelty, it's about reinventing and reimagining the classics for a new generation. It's an approach that doesn't seem out of place with classic hi-fi, either, as that's exactly what Sennheiser has done with its latest...

Sennheiser HD 660 S

Sennheiser succeeds in creating a masterpiece with the HD 660 S. The headphones deliver true audiophile sound quality that's perfectly balanced when required. These are best enjoyed with a quality amplifier when listening at home, but holds up well for professional evaluation and editing of material...

Sennheiser HD 660 S

The Sennheiser HD 660 S is a direct successor to one of the most legendary hi-fi headphones of all time, the HD 650. With a price tag of $500/€500, does it have what it takes to carry on the legacy

Sennheiser HD 660 S Headphone Review

In the audio community, the Sennheiser HD 650 is something of a legend – an excellent value headphone, it delivers exceptional audio quality without costing the earth. It is perhaps a bold move, then, for Sennheiser to release a successor to the much-loved HD 650, named the HD 660 S.

Crisp and keen treble; much more resolving than HD 650; Smooth and rich mid-range; Controlled; tight bass response; Easier to drive than HD 650; Matte black aesthetic is subjectively better looking than previous designs

Sub-bass extension is still not mind-blowing

Sennheiser HD 660 S

The Sennheiser HD 660 S are high-end open-back headphones. These are the kind you might use to listen to music at home, or to watch a movie late at night when you don't want to disturb anyone else.

Great soundstage; Comfortable; Dynamic and involving

Value enjoyment over tonal neutrality a little

Sennheiser HD 660 S

At the end of the day, you're probably wonder where is the HD6XX line headed towards, and we feel it is headed towards greatness. Sennheiser has shown great respect for their customers, and they have shown improvements organic with their customers demands when releasing the HD660S, which is a more...

Build Quality; Bass Speed; Treble Extension; PRaT / ADSR (Textures) when properly amplified; Comfort after they loosen up a bit; Detail; Clarity; Resolving Ability; Scales well with a good AMP; Natural Soundstage; Good Dynamics; Quite Engaging; Effortless Sound; Good cables included in the package

Not very portable and mainly intended for desktop usage; AMP picky and pretty hard to drive; very openback
