Impressed, non audiophile!
Bought these headphones after reviewing a couple other models. First impressions out the box was good but after about 12 hrs of burn in i really heard the bass get more definition and overall sound was better. Tried it on multiple sources including ipad, ipod, sansa clip zip, and my onkyo receiver.
Pros:
- + Very stylish and extremely comfortable
- + High quality build
- + Sound very clear and neutral
- + Detachable and durable cable
Cons:
- - Requires an amplifier
- - No case

Great headphones for price!
Sennheiser launched these headphones for $200 and now they are only $70! For this price it is a great deal. I got my pair for $50 and I use them every day walking from classes in the cold. Pros: Quality design all around! Soft textured metal housing.

Thats my third Senn's, 6th cans overall. The HD598 needed minimum 24 of hours of burning-out before even I could listen to some music. Out of the box bass was simply unacceptable, than after another 36 hrs.

A must-have pair for those who appreciate their music
This is a pair you need to have before you ears start losing their sensitivity. Technically, much has already been described about the product by other reviewers so I'll skip that part. Aesthetically, this is an open-back headphone that you need to have if you're a music connoisseur.

The Sennheiser HD598 phones are an unusual color but they do sound excellent. Any shred of veil is gone now. These phones are lively, have long bass extension, real presence, excellent detail, good sound stage and are very easy to listen to for hours.

Sennheiser HD 598 Review
Ever since I got into the hobby of ear-sized transducers, I've been wanting to sample a high-end set of Sennheiser headphones. The Germans are known for their attention to detail and insiders go as far as calling them "industry lions".
Pros:
- Bass is a little pronounced
- which benefits certain types of music
- Fairly forgiving on poor sources and lower quality music
- Fairly easy to drive
Cons:
- Midrange is not as sweet as we'd like
- Soundstage is flat
- A little overpriced in India
- MRP is 50% higher than US prices

Sennheiser HD598
In the past we've raised an eyebrow at the brave colour choices for headphones, (such as the Phiaton MS300 s' gleaming red finish) but these Sennheisers take things to a whole other level.
Pros:
- Supremely comfortable
- rugged build
- detailed
- well-integrated sound
Cons:
- Is ‘boring' too strong a word?
