Samyang T-S 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Lens Review

Handling and features Performance Verdict Specification Tilt-shift lenses are normally so expensive that many photographers cannot justify the cost, despite its benefits with control of the focal plane and of distortion.

Priced very keenly; Excellent optical performance; Solidly built; Good; solid controls over tilt-shift movements

CA a little high towards the edges of the image circle; Susceptible to flare in harsh lighting

Don't expect to take a lens similar to Canon or Nikon T-S lens... Has very smooth focus ring. Maybe it could have a F32 aperture option. The lock buttons are solid but don?′t pass this idea. The box and package is not very good also.

Samyang 24mm f/3.5 ED AS UMC Tilt-Shift Lens (Rokinon/Bower) Review

Some lenses are introduced and quickly revert to near anonymity, while others garner a great deal of photographer interest – even prior to their availability. This lens fell into the latter category, which prompted me to promptly get my hands on one. The reason for this interest?

Tilt-and-shift lenses feature the film-plane-movement control normally associated with large-format monorail or studio cameras. They are considered to be very specialist kit designed for architectural and landscape photography where adjustment of the plane of focus and distortion control are key...

A brilliant photographic technique to explore!

A top quality product that allows the photographer to include some real improvements to landscapes and close-ups. Expensive but treat yourself!

I had to pass on this one

I opted to purchase this lens for use on my D600 instead of purchasing the Nikon version because the Nikon 24mm tilt/shift lens carried on the same tradition as their other tilt/shift lenses of not having these two functions rotate independently of one another.

Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC

Even if it sold at its $1,299 MSRP, the Samyang T-S 24mm F3.5 ED AS UMC lens would be an excellent value when compared with first-party lenses like the Nikon PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5 ED ($2,199.95) and the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II ($1,899).

Wide-angle field of view; Full-frame coverage; Very affordable; Shift, tilt, and rotation adjustment

Some barrel distortion; Should be stopped down for best image quality; Flare can be an issue
