Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 Lens - Sony FE SY85830 review

Whether this lens will represent good value for you will depend on your expectations. If shallow depth of field and a flattering look for portraits are what you're after, this lens is a steal at around £240.

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE Sony E Lens - Brand New review

The Samyang AF 35 mm f/1.4 FE is currently the cheapest 1.4/35 full frame lens available on the market. Combine that with its very good image quality, offered practically up from the maximum relative aperture, and you get an excellent reason for recommending the purchase.

excellent image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of APS-C,, sensible image quality on the edge of full frame,, very low lateral chromatic aberration,, lack of problems with spherical aberration,, moderate astigmatism,, slight vignetting on APS-C,, silent and accurate...

worse distortion correction than in the case of rivals,, weak performance against bright light,, huge vignetting on full frame.

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE Sony E Lens - Brand New review

The new Samyang AF 35mm f/1.4 FE is a very fast and relatively affordable classic 35mm lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras that's a viable alternative to the much more expensive Sony Zeiss Distagon T* FE 35mm F1.4 ZA optic.

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE Sony E Lens - Brand New review

The Samyang AF 35mm f1.4 FE is a mild wide-angle prime lens for Sony’s Alpha mirrorless cameras, offering a bright aperture and autofocus at an affordable price below Sony’s existing trio of 35mm lenses. In my tests, the Samyang AF 35mm f1.4 FE left me with mixed feelings.

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE Sony E Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE Sony E Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 FE Sony E Lens - Brand New review

Apple's latest non-Pro iPhone is superb - it's just that it's strikingly similar to last year's effort.

Still an incredible smartphone, Brilliant battery life gets a bit better, Excellent camera system gets a bit better

Last year’s Pro hardware, Wireless charging slow by modern standards, No USB-C; it’s now well overdue
