First, the case was not included. That was an extra purchase. Just to be clear it's in the pics only because I highly recommend at least a small "EVA" case since it is light weight and probably wouldn't hold up to being crushed or dropped. The case recommended was perfect. It's a great drive.

This was bought to use with an Xbox One X. I have only tested it so far with a digital copy of Forza Horizon 4 but I am stunned by the speed and performance of the Samsung T5. The speed it took to start the game on the internal drive was 1 minute 59 seconds, on an external 4TB HDD was 1 minute 49...

I went to do a test transfer using a few dozen small video files and, after starting the transfer, the progress window instantly closed. I thought my transfer failed but the files had been instantly moved from my NVMe to the target drive. I'm beyond impressed with the speed of this drive.

Extend your MacBook Pro space

If you have a USB C port on your computer this is a must get! Compared to other usb 3.1 drives this is way faster. Note if you plan to use the Apple dongle to transfer files over 500gb it will take about an hour and if you buy a usb3.1 to usb C cable it will take about 35min for over 500gb if you...

Samsung Portable SSD T5

The Samsung Portable SSD T5 corrects the T3's most glaring omission by including a USB-C cable, and improves its dollar-to-gigabyte ratio and its performance significantly. At $799 for 2TB, it's made for well-heeled hobbyists and graphics artists.

Excellent performance; Includes USB 3.0 and USB-C cables; Compact; Android-, Mac-, and Windows-compatible

While a comparable good per-gigabyte value; the drive itself is expensive

Samsung Portable SSD T5 Review

One of my favorite products from last year that I take with me everywhere is the Samsung Portable SSD T3. This portable solid state drive is super small, fast, and is what I've used to edit 4K content when I'm on the go.

– Superfast transfer speeds; – Small and very portable; – TypeC to C and TypeC to A cables included; – Software allows for password protection

– None that I found

Samsung Portable SSD T5

It's officially a pattern. For the third year in a row, Samsung is using its Portable T series to bring new NAND technology to market. We still don't know why Samsung only releases this series in odd numbers, but the pattern shows that skipping T2 had nothing to do with advanced robots going back in...

Attractive design; USB 3.1 Gen 2 support; USB Type-C connector; Full hardware-based encryption; Excellent price point ($199.99; Attractive design; USB 3.1 Gen 2 support; USB Type-C connector; Full hardware-based encryption

The third (USB 3.1 Gen 2) generation of Samsung's credit-card-sized external drive is a swift and nifty solution for secure storage.

Couldn't be more portable; Fast performance; Handsome design; Comes with USB-C and USB-A cables

Expensive; No utility software except for password lock

Samsung T5 Portable SSD

Tiny and outrageously fast, the Samsung T5 Portable SSD is the ultimate portable hard drive -- albeit with a price tag to match. It's about the same size and weight as a stack of 10 credit cards, so you'll barely feel it in your pocket.

Tiny; Outrageously fast; Rugged aluminum body; Three-year warranty

Very expensive per GB
