JUST A GREAT WATCH
Easy To Set Up; Easy To Use; Quality Construction
With the Gear S2, Samsung has produced a really compelling alternative to the current crop of Android Wear smartwatches. In many ways the Gear S2 is the most appealing smartwatch we've yet seen but it has a few major issues.
Extremely well made; Intuitive interface; Rotating bezel ring for navigation; IP68 dust and waterproof rating; Excellent display
Connectivity issues; Limited Tizen apps
"So close, Samsung, and yet... so far."
Nice product, but it's price to high, it's build quality is excellent, this product also with great features
It's no secret Samsung is doing its best to make Tizen a force in the platform wars currently controlled by Apple and Google. For years, Samsung's hardware has paired with an operating system over which it has diminishing control, and despite its incredible success in the market, the inevitability...
Second time around, Samsung has produced an excellent smartwatch. The Gear S2 is attractive and watch-like (especially the Classic model, which I hope to see soon) and the rotating bezel is almost the perfect way to navigate on a small screen.
We reviewed the Samsung Gear S2 soon after it launched, but we now have its better-looking fraternal twin, the Gear S2 Classic, in house. Let's take a quick look at Samsung's US$50 more expensive smartwatch that looks like a real watch.
Samsung was one of the first to release a smartwatch and a few devices later it has run between Android Wear and its own proprietary system that would only work with Samsung smartphones.
I just purchased the Verizon 3G model. I never saw the point of having a smartwatch that has to stay tethered to your phone. So, I waited. The Gear S was a little bulky for my taste even though it had the features I liked. I have been using the MotoActV for fitness training the past 4 years or so.
3G; Has a built in speaker and mic; Plays stored music through watch or headset
Lack of apps for Tizen
Samsung is notable in this field simply because it's issued so many smartwatches over the relatively short period in which smartwatches have even existed. It seems as though every time we turn around, there's a new Samsung smartwatch promising to wow us with new and innovative features.
Spinning bezel is ridiculously fun; Fast notifications; Excellent AMOLED screen; Works with most Android devices
Can't take calls; Tizen rather than Android Wear; Regular S2 model can't take a standard watch band
