Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Review: Déjà vu

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 can best be described as an iterative upgrade. Sure, it fixes long-time issues with the Fold series by getting rid of the gap and impressive software support, but it’s near-identical in most other areas, making the £100/$150 price hike a particularly hard pill to swallow.
Pros:
  • Large 7.6-inch foldable display, Most powerful foldable phone around, Better app support than other book-style foldables, You want to use the foldable display to its fullest: Samsung’s exceptional push to get developers to integrate support for the boxy inner display shines through, with plenty of...
Cons:
  • Very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, £100/$150 price increase, Identical camera setup, You want the best photography experience: Boasting the same camera tech as the Z Fold 4, the foldable delivers fine (but not particularly exceptional) images, especially compared to the Google Pixel Fold .

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 review

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a very good folding phone but it’s still a niche, expensive device. Samsung’s foldable software impresses, but the cameras are disappointing.
Pros:
  • Premium build, Great performance, Long battery life, Useful software
Cons:
  • Prohibitively expensive, Huge crease in main screen, Awkward, heavy shape, Cameras are bad for the price

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 long-term review: Practical and consistent

Critic Rating 4 Back in August, when launched the Galaxy Z Fold5, it came as a surprise among people how similar the Galaxy Z Fold5 looks and feels compared to the Galaxy Z Fold4, in terms of design. For many, there was nothing new apart from that 2.4 reduced thickness at the thickest point.

Samsung’s top-end foldable gets pricier but the upgrades are hard to spot

  • Thinner and lighter than Z Flip 5, Better battery life and performance, Useful new software features
Cons:
  • Even more expensive than last year, Same cameras as last year, S Pen isn’t included in the box

Samsung Galaxy Fold2 5G - Black SM-F916BZKAXNZ review

With the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung might just have the first great foldable. Its design has been fortified significantly. Both of its screens are bigger and better than before. It uses the fastest smartphone processor you’ll find in an Android phone today.
Pros:
  • It’s a tablet AND a phone! Both displays are bigger and better
  • Improved design and build quality
  • Solid performance
Cons:
  • Extravagantly expensive
  • Multitasking isn’t intuitive
  • Many apps aren’t optimized for tablets/foldables

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G (256GB, Black) - Excellent review

A few generations in, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is still one of the company’s most intriguing ideas. Very few competitors have truly tried taking it on, and here in Australia, it is still the only foldable tablet that is readily available.
Pros:
  • Still a cool concept, Slimmer than previous generations, Powerful, Water resistance
Cons:
  • Expensive, Cameras can't match the S23 Ultra, even if this is a more pricey phone, S-Pen costs extra, Pen can only be equipped in the case, Doesn't do a whole lot of different, Feels like a spec update

Samsung Galaxy Fold2 5G - Black SM-F916BZKAXNZ review

Depending on how you count, it’s either the second, third, or even fourth iteration of Samsung’s folding phone design. The first was pulled from the market days before release because it was too fragile. The second was the official release, but it was still surrounded by a fog of uncertainty.
Pros:
  • Big
  • high refresh rate glass screen
  • Big
  • actually usable cover display
  • Improved
  • but not yet great
  • tablet interface
Cons:
  • Awkward form factor when closed
  • Expensive
  • Cameras are a step down from the Note 20 Ultra or Galaxy S20
