The Galaxy S9 is a great phone that doesn't live up to its own hype

The Samsung S9 is an excellent smartphone – one of the best Android phones you can buy today. The screen, in particular, is superb. The colours are crisp and extremely detailed, and the ample screen real estate makes it well-suited to watching videos in horizontal mode.
Pros:
  • Good low-light photography
  • crisp and detailed screen
  • slick design
Cons:
  • No improvement in battery life
  • Bixby is still not very useful
  • intelligent scan has high failure rate

Samsung Galaxy S9 review: Incrementally better in all the right places

Samsung's Galaxy S9 is a strange breed of smartphone. With a Snapdragon 845 processor, great camera, and 18:9 screen, it has all the trappings of a fantastic 2018 handset. Yet, at the same time, it's remarkably similar to the Galaxy S8 that it replaces.

Samsung Galaxy S9 (256GB, Midnight Black) - Excellent review

When we reviewed Samsung's large-screened new Galaxy smartphone last year, the Galaxy S8+ , we described it as "futuristic" for its huge display and edge-to-edge design. But the future arrived quickly afterward as most major smartphone makers, Apple included, adopted some version of a large,...

Samsung Galaxy S9

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a continuation of the path the South Korean company started last year with the Galaxy S8. Both devices are very similar and nearly identical in look and feel.

Samsung has hit a home run with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. While it may not look much different to last year's S8, there are still enough new features and abilities to make this one of the best smartphones on the market today.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ Review: Standing firm

Just minutes after getting my hands on Samsung's latest flagship S Series smartphone, one fact was abundantly clear - if you weren't fond of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, then you're going to have similar feelings about the S9 and S9+.
Pros:
  • Super Slow-mo mode is great (when it works
  • One of the best Android cameras out there
  • Build quality is superb
Cons:
  • Looks the same as the S8/S8
  • Glossy body isn't for everyone
  • AR Emoji are lacklustre

Let's not beat around the bush, the exterior of the Samsung Galaxy S9 is essentially a carbon copy of the S8 . Yet, even with all that sameness, Samsung's balanced no-notch design seems more considered than before. It doesn't feel needy like a lot of the new iPhone X copycat handsets I saw at MWC.
Pros:
  • Way better performance
  • battery life
  • and low-light photos AR Emojis aren't all they are cracked up to be
Cons:
  • AR Emojis aren't all they are cracked up to be

Samsung Galaxy S9+ review: the best big-screen smartphone by miles

Last year’s Galaxy S8+ was slightly held back by a few annoying niggles, such as the awkward fingerprint sensor placement, all of which have been rectified in the Galaxy S9+. Samsung could certainly be accused of simply recycling last year’s design, but it was really great in 2017 and is just as...
Pros:
  • Pros: 128GB + microSD card slot, wireless charging, IP68, fantastic screen, excellent camera, iris scanner + face recognition combo, great fingerprint scanner, notification LED, headphone socket
Cons:
  • Cons: battery life could be better, very similar to S8+ design, Bixby button can’t be remapped

Samsung Galaxy S9+ Review: Fantastic And Fast With A Killer Camera

To determine how the Samsung S9+ handles with respect to battery life, we've commissioned two very different test utilities. AnTuTu's Battery test is a worst case, high workload benchmark utility that stresses the CPU, GPU, system memory and even maximizes display brightness in order to push phones...
Pros:
  • Gorgeous, Refined, Slightly Smaller Design, Samsung Super AMOLED Is The Best, Fastest Android Phone On Market Now, Amazing Camera Performance, Innovative Features, Solid Battery Life

  • Pricey, Camera Modes Twitchy With Accidental Actuation, Black Units Are Smudge Magnets
