Samsung Galaxy S9+ review: the best big-screen smartphone by miles
Last year’s Galaxy S8+ was slightly held back by a few annoying niggles, such as the awkward fingerprint sensor placement, all of which have been rectified in the Galaxy S9+. Samsung could certainly be accused of simply recycling last year’s design, but it was really great in 2017 and is just as...- Pros: 128GB + microSD card slot, wireless charging, IP68, fantastic screen, excellent camera, iris scanner + face recognition combo, great fingerprint scanner, notification LED, headphone socket
- Cons: battery life could be better, very similar to S8+ design, Bixby button can’t be remapped
Samsung Galaxy S9+ Review: Fantastic And Fast With A Killer Camera
To determine how the Samsung S9+ handles with respect to battery life, we've commissioned two very different test utilities. AnTuTu's Battery test is a worst case, high workload benchmark utility that stresses the CPU, GPU, system memory and even maximizes display brightness in order to push phones...- Gorgeous, Refined, Slightly Smaller Design, Samsung Super AMOLED Is The Best, Fastest Android Phone On Market Now, Amazing Camera Performance, Innovative Features, Solid Battery Life
- Pricey, Camera Modes Twitchy With Accidental Actuation, Black Units Are Smudge Magnets
Samsung Galaxy S9 (256GB, Midnight Black) - Excellent review
In everything else, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is a great phone. Once again, what I’d call the best all rounder that delivers on all the most important features a consumer wants from a flagship. Definitely the phone I’d recommend you give a try in 2018.
It's a sad fact, but the only chance the Samsung Galaxy S9 had to stand out in an ocean of equally competent Android smartphones in 2018 was if its camera was the very, very best – better than all the rest. And, to a certain extent, Samsung has pulled that off with the Galaxy S9.

- The fastest Android smartphone yet
- Slightly worse battery life
- More expensive than Galaxy S8

A little over a week ago, Samsung ushered in their new line of Galaxy S devices in the form of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. The S range has long been the pinnacle of the Android OS ecosystem but saw their lead at the top slowly eroding in recent years until the S8 overturned any of the loses in...
Samsung Galaxy S9 review: Incrementally better in all the right places
The Galaxy S9 is an evolution rather than a revolution, but Samsung has upgraded it in all the right places.- The Infinity Display is even better than the one on the S8

- Camera features like Dual Aperture and Super Slow-mo are a little gimmicky

Samsung Galaxy S9 review: A refined evolution
While it's not perfect, the Galaxy S9 is a fantastic device. It's got a brilliant display, great camera, brilliant performance all-round, and in a body that's easily one of the most elegant ever released. Its stereo sound makes such a difference to media consumption too.- Brilliant display
- Stereo sound is surprisingly powerful
- Curved glass and metal is very attractive
- Comfortable to use
- Super speedy and fluid performance
- Battery isn't great
- Camera over-exposes highlights regularly
- AR Emoji and Bixby need a lot of improving
- Expensive
Samsung Galaxy S9 review
We're going to have to wait for big jumps in technology, but although the Galaxy S9 only brings a disappointingly small bunch of minor improvements it's still an amazing smartphone that will be hard to beat in 2018.
