Confession: If it weren't for the Galaxy S8 Active's monster battery life, I'd tell you to buy the regular Galaxy S8 ( $599 at Sam's Club ) and a good case. The Galaxy S8 Active costs more than the S8 for what is essentially a built-in case and screen protector, but not one of your own choosing.
The Galaxy S8 Active has an all-day battery -- about 24 hours in our tests -- and has a sturdier body that's basically a built-in case; It keeps the S8's waterproofing and wireless charging
Its flat screen isn't as sharp as the regular S8's; and the S8 Active does away with the hardware buttons that helped give the original its identity
Samsung's Galaxy S8 is the best smartphone you can buy right now, but it has one glaring flaw: a glass back. It looks damn good, but the glass also makes the S8 prone to slipping off any slightly tilted surface.
Shatterproof screen; Same great S8 performance and display; Top-notch camera; Long battery life
More expensive than the S8; Locked to AT&T; Bulky
By now, we've come to expect an "Active" version of the latest Samsung SX device. Also by now, we've mostly come to terms with the fact that it still isn't commercially available in other markets outside the US. That aside, the Galaxy S8 Active is a ruggedized version of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is pricey. With a sticker of $850 it falls on the high end of what smarphone makers command. It's $100 more than the flagship model and the same cost of the Galaxy S8 + when purchased through AT&T.
The Galaxy S8 Active was released in August 2017 and was initially targeted at the high-end rugged phones market. At publishing time, the Galaxy S8 Active was priced at USD 849 (exclusively from AT&T).
There's a lot to love about the Galaxy S8 Active, mostly because there was a lot to love about the Galaxy S8. This variant doesn't do anything radically different, so if you didn't like the Galaxy S8, you won't find anything here to really change your mind.
I would recommend Samsung but not the s8 active. Literally one of the worst phones I've ever had. The swipe feature is trash. It was better on my galaxy s5 when the feature was brand new. The auto correct croects my real words to things that aren't even words. The Bixby feature is trash as Well.
Durable
Phone charger stopped working then phone cracked while waiting to send back the phone so T-mobile wouldn't take it. This is the third Samsung phone that the family has had and it malfunctioned before it was paid off. Had this phone a few months. Will never buy Samsung again!!!
Nothing disappointing here!! Great phone that survived 70 miles hiking in Arizona, Utah and Colorado. High heat, low temps, some drops and much water! Great pics and Awesome battery life that had me taking pics at every bend!! Definitely recommend this phone!
