The Galaxy Note 2 steps up its game, offering a super sized Android experience and a larger display without adding bulk. Add to that an improved S Pen experience and a few tricks learned from the Galaxy S3 and you have a tempting, if huge, package.
Pros:
- Design minimizes bulk
- keeping this big phone slim-seeming
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean available at launch
- Camera app includes robust feature set
- User-replaceable battery
- Improved S Pen functionality
- Speedy peformance
- Available on all major carriers
- Long battery life
Cons:
- TouchWiz gets in the way of Jelly Bean too much
- Some S Pen features only work in Samsung apps
- Display resolution lower than previous generation

Samsung Galaxy Note II
The unusual form factor will put some off but, in every respect, this is a superb device

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 review
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a huge improvement on the Samsung Galaxy Note and the best large format smartphone we've seen. With all the S Pen functions, Android Jelly Bean, nippy processor and of course, that largebattery, it's the first phablet we've seen that works as such.

Samsung can take credit for creating the Phablet category with its extremely popular Galaxy Note. And although the 10.1 version of the device did not exactly rock the market, the Note 2 has much more going for it, with better specs and more features. There is a new king in phablet town!

Samsung Galaxy Note II Review
The Samsung Galaxy Note II is big. Colossally big. Comically big. Write down any adjective you can think of to modify how to describe something large and it will most likely fit the description of the Galaxy Note II.
Pros:
- Excellent camera and unique software capabilities because of S Pen and 5.5-inch screen
Cons:
- Large size may be too much for many users to overcome

Pros:
- Buttery-smooth performance
- Outstanding battery life
- Much-improved handwriting recognition
- S Pen is becoming legitimately useful
Cons:
- Display remains imperfect
- Paucity of good stylus apps
- Plastic construction
- S Planner is a downgrade from default Calendar app

Samsung's original Galaxy Note was the subject of much derision: after all, who would buy a smartphone with a 5.3in screen and a stylus in 2012? Customers flocked, though, and Samsung has unleashed the sequel, the Galaxy Note II, with an even bigger 5.5in display.
