The Samsung Galaxy A12 is a very cheap smartphone that almost looks too good to be true. £169 for a handset with a de rigueur quad-camera, a hefty battery and generous screen, all wrapped up in an attractive package? On paper, it sounds tempting enough, but how does it stack up in reality?

Attractive design, Exceptional battery life, Versatile camera, A good-looking cheap phone with a long-lasting battery : Samsung makes nice phones, even at this end of the market, and it helps that the stamina is great.

Ruinously poor performance, Performance is far below average : This is a cheaper device and it’s not the fastest around.

With the Galaxy A12, Samsung has succeeded in creating a solid smartphone in the lower price segment. The mid-range phone, which was quite modest in our test, takes decent pictures with the main camera, is well built, and we also like the textured surface on the back.

Samsung Galaxy A12 is the direct successor to the Galaxy A11 announced back in August of 2020. Aside the change in design, Samsung also made changes to the internals, the most notable of which is the use of MediaTek CPU instead of Snapdragon chip used in the old variant.
