Samsung is probably not the name that pops in mind when one talks about the budget phone segment. But the company has been trying to carve out a name in this price range. Samsung Galaxy A12 seems to work in the same direction. Will the phone make a leap forward for the popular flagship maker?

Samsung Galaxy A12 is the direct successor to the Galaxy A11 announced back in August of 2020. Aside the change in design, Samsung also made changes to the internals, the most notable of which is the use of MediaTek CPU instead of Snapdragon chip used in the old variant.

With the Galaxy A12, Samsung has succeeded in creating a solid smartphone in the lower price segment. The mid-range phone, which was quite modest in our test, takes decent pictures with the main camera, is well built, and we also like the textured surface on the back.
Pros:
- solid workmanship, triple card slot, good connectivity (NFC, VoLTE, VoWiFi, FM radio, ...), long battery life, solid cameras

- slow WLAN, low performance, speaker, display and PWM

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A12 is satisfactory as long as you use it casually. Its best selling point is none other than the battery, of course, which can last up to two days and the camera performance is satisfactory.

It lacks a bit for power, and some of its camera lenses are more useful than others, but these should be acceptable compromises for the price. That said, if you care more about, say, power than battery, there are better options, it all depends on what your priorities are.

- Performance could be better, Not all of the cameras are very useful, Plastic build
