Samsung EX1
Tweet Samsung doesn't mind getting into a good scrap, and this is definitely the case with their new top of the line compact – the 10 megapixel EX1. It is taking on some big dogs in the form of the Canon G12 and Nikon's P7000, both really excellent compacts meant for the enthusiasts with higher...
Pros:
- Very good f1.8 lens
- 24 mm wide
- excellent AMOLED screen
Cons:
- No 720p video recording
- only 3x zoom
- poor battery life

Review – Samsung TL500/EX1
The compact camera segment is one that has left me without hope of a decent camera for a long time. Since 2003 I've had in my arsenal the gamut of digital compacts ranging from fast super zooms to the highly portable to the control freak Canon G series.

Samsung EX1 digital camera review
Though we're writing this before taking a look at its new NX100 model, the EX1 has got to be the most impressive digital camera Samsung has produced to date, whether true compact or DSLR-styled mirror-less hybrid model.
Pros:
- Vivid AMOLED back screen that also tilts and swivels
- bright f/1.8 lens
- tank-like strength via solid-feel metal construction
- Raw capture
- ISO3200 at full (10MP) resolution
Cons:
- Pricey compared to most digital compacts
- modest (3x) optical zoom range
- standard definition video capture only

Samsung EX1 compact digital zoom camera
Even if you're after more professional pictures, that doesn't mean buying a big and bulky camera that's too big for a pocket. Samsung's EX1 is a case in point, being able to take pictures at a resolution of 10 megapixels .

Samsung TL500
In the past few years, manufacturers have begun offering a wider selection of compact digital cameras with bright lenses, good for capturing photos in low-light environments without the need for a flash.
Pros:
- Sharp images
- Great low light performance
- Articulating high-resolution OLED display
- Micro-HDMI port
Cons:
- Bulky
- Expensive
- No high-definition video capture
- Noticeable shutter lag
- Proprietary USB port

[REVIEW-SAMSUNG EX1]
This 10 megapixel camera with a fast F1.8–2.4 image stabilised 24mm–72mm zoom lens is Samsung's entry into the upper levels of compact cameras. This segment of the market is dominated by Panasonic with the LX3 – about to be superseded by the LX5 – and the Canon G11 and S90.
Pros:
- The image quality is about as good as it gets in a compact
- JPEG's from the camera are good but the RAW images are outstanding
- It is worth taking the trouble to capture in RAW and process with the excellent Silkypix converter.
Cons:
- The movie mode is VGA
- a bit crude in this day and age

Samsung EX1
To say there is competition between Samsung and Panasonic is something of an understatement. They are the Chelsea and Arsenal of the consumer electronics world, arch rivals in almost every field in which they operate, and not least in the area of digital cameras.
Pros:
- Very fast lens
- Easy to use
- Very good image quality
Cons:
- Limited resolution
- Annoying shutter control
- Disappointing noise control

Samsung EX1 10 Megapixel?camera
The digital era of photography has done a fine job of re-creating the SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera, but what about the equally awesome, yet inexpensive rangefinder? Samsung's EX1 looks like very good place to start. Check our review after the break.

Samsung EX1 compact camera
Built like you remember the most expensive rangefinder cameras of old, the EX1 is a heavy, armoured beauty in gun metal grey and is the most rugged camera I have picked up. What must have started out as an enthusiast's retro styled project, must quickly have become something that Samsung said, "OK,...
