Samsung EX1
A fine, if chunky digital compact, but one in danger of falling between two stools

There is a lot to like with the TL500: serious shooters will love the f/1.8 lens, the full manual control and the rotating OLED screen. But there are a few things missing, such as HD movie capture and a long zoom lens.

Samsung EX-1 review Review
The Samsung's strength is its combination of features, performance and value for money. It's not the best-handling high-end compact, but it does the job. The question is: do cameras like this have a future when they're up against a new generation of big-sensor hybrids?
Pros:
- Build quality and finish
- Swivelling AMOLED display
- Photographic controls
Cons:
- Some awkward controls
- One of a dying breed

Samsung EX1 compact camera
While Samsung's NX100 APS-C sensor camera is making life difficult for those deciding on compact EVIL shooter, the company's considerably cheaper EX1 is beginning to look like a bargain these days. Shop around and you can pick it up for under £300.

Samsung TL500 review
The Samsung TL500 is an excellent camera, and its F1.8 maximum aperture and OLED screen are excellent in a camer of this type. But usability issues make it less than ideal for both novices and expert users.
