Samsung 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OIS NX review by arconovum

I was very disappointed in this lens , not in the optics but in the mechanics. When OIS was enabled a high pitched tone was emitted from the lens in the 10,000 - 11,000 hz (hertz) range, at about 10 dB(decibels), it was very audible and also could be recorded on the cameras microphones , in this...
Pros:
  • decent optics
Cons:
  • defective mechanics
  • poor battery life, terrible warranty from samsung

Samsung NX 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OIS iFn ( EX-L18200MB ) - Review / Test Report

The Samsung NX 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OID iFn is the weakest Samsung NX lens that we've tested so far although given its extreme 11x zoom ratio this is hardly surprising. The performance is actually pretty decent at 18mm and 24mm between f/5.6 to f/11.

Samsung 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OIS Review

The Samsung 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OIS packs a long zoom range, but your images will be better if you opt for a two-lens solution to cover this range. The Samsung 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 ED OIS ($799.99) is a superzoom lens with an impressive 11.1x range for use with NX mirrorless cameras. While we are impressed by its build quality, distortion control, and image quality at wider angles, its sharpness suffers a bit when zoomed all the way in. In full-frame terms its 18-200mm range is equivalent to 27-300mm. Samsung users looking to add some telephoto reach to their NX camera would be better off buying the 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED OIS III NX to supplement the standard 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6( at Amazon) if quality and cost are the major concerns. This 18-200mm is a more convenient design that keeps you from swapping lenses when out and about, but its price and performance make it a tough sell. When you consider its zoom range, the lens( at Amazon) is pretty compact. It measures 4.2 by 2.8 inches (HD), weighs 1.3 pounds, and has a front element that accommodates 67mm threaded filters. A reversible lens hood is included. Depending on which body yo...
Pros:
  • Long zoom range
  • Optical stabilization
  • Quite sharp at wider angles
  • Not a lot of distortion
  • Excellent build quality
Cons:
  • Image quality suffers noticeably at telephoto focal lengths
  • Narrow aperture
  • Expensive

I like it

First thing to note: it's pretty heavy. It does throw the balance of the NX1000 off completely, but I guess that is just part and parcel of trying to get a decent sized lens with OIS. I did try the 50-200mm, but the OIS was awful for video, which was a large requirement for me.

Great lens

I love this lens, the only drawback is size. It gets a little heavy for day to day. But also does everything I ask of it.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
Cons:
  • Heavy

Great lens Samsung 18mm-200mm f/3.5-6.3

I have NX10 with the standard lens and 50-200. Both lenses are noisy for video. 50-200 is very sharp and fast. Because this system is for traveling it is more convenient to have the lens which replaces both former ones.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
  • Durable
  • Easily Interchangeable
  • Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Nice Bokeh
  • Strong Construction
