Review: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 mechanical keyboard

There are exactly two kinds of people when it comes to mechanical keyboards, those who own them and those who have to choose whether or not to tolerate the people who own them. The fact is, some people don't feel at home on a computer unless the keyboard keys push back against them when they type.

Besides of all I had pointed out in my review, this keyboard is by far one of the best I've used in years and would recommend to anyone who's willing to spend under $150 for a high end and super responsive keyboard that both looks good and feels good.

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

To a certain extent Razer has made its own life difficult with the BlackWidow Ultimate. This $125 mechanical keyboard offers an impressively responsive typing experience, but we don't find its backlighting or spare USB jack and audio ports enough to justify the cost next to the otherwise identical...

Cherry MX Blue mechanical-key switches offer one of the most satisfying typing experiences available; backlighting helps you game in the dark; on-the-fly macro recording; intuitive driver software

Backlighting and a few spare ports don't justify the $40 premium over the non-Ultimate BlackWidow

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 Edition Review

The last keyboard we reviewed from Razer was the laptop style Lycosa, many moons ago. Today we're taking a look at the latest in their line of keyboards, the BlackWidow Ultimate 2013.

Razer Black Widow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Being a computer gamer, I want the best keyboard possible to game with.

Mechanical Keys; Backlights for most keys; Protected Cables; Durable

Some keys feel flimsy; expensive; weighted

Razer Gaming Keyboard

This ultra-modern keboard from Razor, known for its gaming accessories is for the hardcore gamer. Its stylish design with back light keyboard is a remarkable. Available in blackm, it comes with only a 1 year warranty Compared to other gaming keyboards it has a low warranty period .

Could be better

It's a mechanical keyboard with green backlighting. Very much a personal opinion, but this keyboard has Cherry MX Blue switches, which are the loudest possible switch for a mechanical keyboard. I type over 80 WPM, possibly upwards of 100 on a mechanical board.

LOVE IT!

Been using this keyboard for several months now and I am in love with it for all types of gaming. Took me a bit of time to get used to mechanical but now I can never go back. I'm definitely no Razer fanboy but I can definitely stand up for 2 of the 3 products I've purchased from them.

The Razer BlackWidow, perfect for the hardcore gamer.

"I have been putting my Razer BlackWidow through a fair amount of punishment over the past year or so, when I am not socialising with friends in person we are usually socialising in noisy gaming marathons which continue until the early hours of most mornings.

Durable; Very high quality; Great to use

Expensive; Loud
