Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Review

Razer, long known for its high-end gaming mice, has had sort of a slow start when it comes to gaming keyboards. Its offerings haven't been bad, but the company hasn't had a must-have product yet. The BlackWidow is Razer's first.

Great key mechanisms; strong build; just the right number of features

Attracts fingerprints; noisy; doesn't offer many more features than $50-cheaper basic model

Review: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Keyboard

Short version: This new mechanical keyboard from Razer is clicky and attractive, but some layout and design choices irk me, and this thing ain't cheap.

Solid to type on; Clicky sound for those of you who like that kind of thing; Ports and media keys work no problem

F-key clusters too close together; Key labels can be confusing; Macro lovers may want more

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth 2013 Edition Keyboard Review

Razer maintains a distinct sense of style across their product line. Over the past decade and a half, Razer has carved a spot in the peripherals market catering to competitive gamers as well as developing wholly novel products for the gaming market.

Review: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 mechanical keyboard

There are exactly two kinds of people when it comes to mechanical keyboards, those who own them and those who have to choose whether or not to tolerate the people who own them. The fact is, some people don't feel at home on a computer unless the keyboard keys push back against them when they type.

Razer Blackwidow Ultimate

Verdict: A pricey but competent gaming keyboard that's built like a tank and packs tons of features.

Razer has got quite the lineup of keyboards now, ranging from Arctosa, Lycosa, BlackWidow and even the older Tarantula (which was my first Razer keyboard). It seems they're on a charge for keyboard worldwide domination and the BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition is no change.

Razer's BlackWidow and BlackWidow Ultimate keyboards

After spending some quality time with standard and Ultimate versions of the Razer BlackWidow, I can't help but feel that my tried-and-true Das Keyboard Professional is a higher-quality product.

Besides of all I had pointed out in my review, this keyboard is by far one of the best I've used in years and would recommend to anyone who's willing to spend under $150 for a high end and super responsive keyboard that both looks good and feels good.
