Launching the counter-attack.

It's the same question every year: which is better, PES or FIFA? For the last five years, or thereabouts, the answer has been near-unanimously FIFA, with its greater depth and sophistication trumping the comparatively shallow game coming from Konami's camp. That wasn't always the case, of course.

Intelligent brand of football that promotes passing and movement; Role Control is an idea so good that it needs to become a football game standard; Palpable sense of achievement in breaking down the defence of elite teams; In-game graphics are excellent; as are most player likenesses; FIFA finally...

Lack of official licenses continues to irritate; Commentary is dull and repetitive

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 Review

Some would argue that leaving it a few months after the latest annual release of that other soccer simulation means that this here PES is on a hiding to nothing. But have the days where the "big two"

Superb physics and physicality; Excellent attention to detail; myClub is a fun alternative to Master League

Lack of licenses will irk some; Dull commentary and poor soundtrack

FIFA, get off the throne; the king is back! Alright, let's get the few negatives out of the way first; FIFA has more stadiums, more licenses and much better commentary. That's it. When it comes to gameplay and actual football, PES is back to it's best and simply light years ahead.

A Hopeful Start To A New Campaign

When teams gain promotion to the top division they enter into a brand-new world. They become minnows in an ocean dominated by world-class teams who spend big money and expect to go deep into the Champions League every year.

Review: PES 2015 equals FIFA on the pitch, but falls short off it

The on-pitch action is arguably the equal of FIFA, but that's far from the only thing that matters.

Leans further towards realism; teaches the sport's mechanics; Some likenesses - Suarez; Ibra; Robben - are scarily good

Master League's menus and tone are horrendously outdated; Replays are painfully slow and can't be fast-forwarded

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 (PS4) - Review

These days Fathers and Mothers, the youth of gaming days past, sit children on their knees and regale them with tales of their prowess on ISS Pro Evolution 2 ; the inexplicable power of Edgar Davids, the finesse of Gabriel Batistuta, the trickery of Marc Overmars.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 review

Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 is a stunning return to form for PES . It's crafted a different take on football to distinguish itself from industry leader FIFA , with slower and more considered play that feels more like an actual game of soccer.

+ More tactical play; + Slower pace is more like real football; + Differentiates itself from FIFA; + Looks good in matches

- Ugly; hard to use menus; - Commentary is terrible; - Lacks licenses
