OPPO R9s Smartphone Black CPH1607 review
OPPO R9S is one of the latest smartphones from one of China’s leading smartphone brand OPPO, which in itself is a subsidiary of BBK Holdings. The OPPO R9S takes over from the highly successful OPPO R9 which catapulted the company to become ranked among the top 5 selling Chinese smartphone makers for...

At S$679, the R9s isn't a particular cheap smartphone, but it's not overpriced either. For a midrange smartphone, the camera exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. The processor and RAM was fairly standard, but the small little things like the sleek and light build, the snappy fingerprint...

Strumming along
Oppo has always offered great build quality on their smartphones and they have outdone themselves with their latest R9s. The design is far from original, but the execution trumps most phones on the market - it's thin and light and the six-string antenna design is the first of its kind.

OPPO R9s Smartphone Black CPH1607 review
When looking squarely at OPPO R9s and its price of S$679, one might think it seems reasonable, given the predecessor is similarly priced. However, the specs are pretty close to ASUS Zenfone 3 ZE552KL , which retails only at S$498. Which one would I buy?

Review: Oppo R9s smart phone
Once again Oppo has released a phone that defies its pricing in design and performance. The Oppo R9s is the current premium model from the brand in Australia. And you know, if you keep a finger over the Oppo logo on the rear a lot of people are going to think that you have an iPhone 6 Plus.
Pros:
- Exceptional value for money
- fine looks
- very good screen
- good battery life
- expandable storage
Cons:
- OTG switches off automatically
- can't edit quick launch items
- no NFC

Oppo R9s review
The Oppo R9s is not going to blow your mind with bells and whistles. But maybe that’s a good thing, because most people don’t need bells and whistles, you just need a good reliable phone. That’s what the Oppo R9s is, with the improvements made where they count the most - camera and battery life, putting it ahead of its predecessor. It performs incredibly considering the reasonable price. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is a worthy contender, although it doesn’t have the same expandable storage, and the excellent OnePlus 3 is a smidge more expensive, but packs a more powerful Snapdragon 820 chip. In any case, both examples do not have the will to last as long as the R9s. If battery is what counts for you, the R9s is a sure mid-range bet.
Pros:
- Sharp shooter
- Enduring battery life
- Juices up in a jiffy
Cons:
- It’s not waterproof
- Doesn’t come with OIS

OPPO R9s Smartphone Black CPH1607 review
Oppo's R9s battery life and camera make it a great midprice buy, even if it isn't as buttery-smooth as more upmarket phones.
Pros:
- The Oppo R9s' 16-megapixel front and rear cameras are all-star performers
- It'll go for days on a single charge, and has custom gesture controls.
Cons:
- You'll feel the phone's midrange design in its sharp-edged aluminium body and some clunky software navigation.

Getting a phone today is an affair of near-endless comparisons. This is especially so when you're looking at the Android market. This doesn't stop manufacturers to make phones that stand out in a market of phones that looks mostly identical.
Pros:
- Both front and rear cameras are 16MP
- Good redesign on the otherwise mundane antenna lines
- Good battery life
Cons:
- Pricey for its specifications
