Review: Oppo R9s smart phone

Once again Oppo has released a phone that defies its pricing in design and performance. The Oppo R9s is the current premium model from the brand in Australia. And you know, if you keep a finger over the Oppo logo on the rear a lot of people are going to think that you have an iPhone 6 Plus.
Pros:
  • Exceptional value for money
  • fine looks
  • very good screen
  • good battery life
  • expandable storage
Cons:
  • OTG switches off automatically
  • can't edit quick launch items
  • no NFC

Oppo R9s smartphone full review

There's much to like about the R9s: it does so many things and looks great. It's a bit sluggish in terms of performance and camera, though. But at this price it's still great value. Update: Before you choose a phone, check out the amazing Samsung Galaxy S8 review.
Pros:
  • Looks and feels great
  • Ultra-fast fingerprint unlock
  • Good value and well featured
  • Dual-sim
Cons:
  • Bit sluggish running powerful apps
  • Annoying camera shutter lag
  • Mediocre battery life

Is this the best mid-range Android phone?

We've been seriously impressed with Oppo phones in the past. The Oppo F1s was one of the best-value phones of 2016 . Now the R9S hits the market with a spec sheet that almost rivals a Samsung Galaxy S7 but much thinner, with a much lower sticker-price and arguably-better looks? Is it any good?
Pros:
  • Looks and feels great
  • Ultra-fast fingerprint unlock
  • Good value and well featured
  • Dual-sim
Cons:
  • Bit sluggish running powerful apps
  • Annoying camera shutter lag
  • Mediocre battery life

OPPO may not have the same level of brand recognition in the West as Huawei or ZTE , but they've long dominated the Chinese market . That should come as no surprise too, given their track record of launching impressive smartphones like the R7 , N3 , and Find 7 .
Pros:
  • Camera lives up to the hype Impressive battery life Super fast VOOC charging provides a 75% charge in 30 minutes Thin
  • light design Nice display Unlocked dual-SIM support is great to have 64GB + microSD expansion
Cons:
  • Design and software are derivative Sloppy software with inconsistent design language Ships with Marshmallow and is moderately unlikely to be updated Strange display coating makes cleaning off fingerprints difficult Performance is below average YouTube audio sync issue Not sold in the United States

Oppo R9s review

The Oppo R9s is not going to blow your mind with bells and whistles. But maybe that’s a good thing, because most people don’t need bells and whistles, you just need a good reliable phone. That’s what the Oppo R9s is, with the improvements made where they count the most - camera and battery life, putting it ahead of its predecessor. It performs incredibly considering the reasonable price. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is a worthy contender, although it doesn’t have the same expandable storage, and the excellent OnePlus 3 is a smidge more expensive, but packs a more powerful Snapdragon 820 chip. In any case, both examples do not have the will to last as long as the R9s. If battery is what counts for you, the R9s is a sure mid-range bet.
Pros:
  • Sharp shooter
  • Enduring battery life
  • Juices up in a jiffy
Cons:
  • It’s not waterproof
  • Doesn’t come with OIS

OPPO R9s Smartphone Black CPH1607 review

Oppo's R9s battery life and camera make it a great midprice buy, even if it isn't as buttery-smooth as more upmarket phones.
Pros:
  • The Oppo R9s' 16-megapixel front and rear cameras are all-star performers
  • It'll go for days on a single charge, and has custom gesture controls.
Cons:
  • You'll feel the phone's midrange design in its sharp-edged aluminium body and some clunky software navigation.

Oppo R9s review: A new contender for the midrange crown

Oppo's R9s battery life and camera make it a great midprice buy, even if it isn't as buttery-smooth as more upmarket phones. There are some good reasons to look past the Oppo R9s' alarmingly Apple-ish design. First, this follow-up to the Oppo R9 has got killer battery life. Second, the front and rear 16-megapixel cameras are serious business. And third, you can pick up the R9s for a fraction of flagship prices -- AU$600 (around $435 or £350, converted).
Pros:
  • The Oppo R9s' 16-megapixel front and rear cameras are all-star performers. It'll go for days on a single charge, and has custom gesture controls.
Cons:
  • You'll feel the phone's midrange design in its sharp-edged aluminium body and some clunky software navigation.

The Oppo R9s is the follow-up to last year's R9 – a breakthrough product that made Oppo's devices stand out from the Android crowd. And that way it did that was by looking like an iPhone. The Oppo R9s is virtually identical to the R9 and thereby still looks a lot like an iPhone.
Pros:
  • Slick design
  • affordable
  • good cameras
  • great battery life
Cons:
  • No NFC
  • iPhone clone (some may say this is a Pro)
