OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

OnePlus’ latest phone is basically the OnePlus 8 Pro’s top-notch screen refresh rate and battery stuffed into a smaller body. Then there’s the awesome 39-minute fast charging tech, to sweeten the deal. The OnePlus 8T is only marred by subpar cameras and a less unique design.

Solid performance; Beautiful 120Hz display; 39-minute fast charging; Great specs for the price

Middling camera performance; No wireless charging

OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

I had a lot of complaints about OnePlus in 2020, mainly about the move to the upmarket segment, but especially about the price of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. With the OnePlus Nord, the manufacturer already showed its willingness not to abandon the price/quality ratio in favour of a race for the...

120 Hz AMOLED screen; Snapdragon 865 chipset; OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11; Always-on display that stresses on digital wellness; Warp Charge (65W)

Classic 48 MP lens; No dedicated telephoto lens; No expandable memory; No IP certification

OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

OnePlus has always been very proud of the raw specs of its phones, and the OnePlus 8T is no different. The phone is better specced in almost every way than the OnePlus 8 it succeeds from earlier this year.

Incredibly fast charging; Fast performance; 120Hz display

Fourth camera feels unnecessary; No wireless charging; No IP-rating for unlocked models

OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

The OnePlus 8T checks all the boxes for me except for the $1,100 price, which is a lot to ask for a smartphone...

Great camera; Best OnePlus design yet; ultra-fast charging

No wireless charging; Weird IP rating; $1,100 is too much

OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

The OnePlus 8T is a beautiful phone. Glass and metal join forces with a great screen to impress, and it’s powerful too. The camera system may be a similar spec to plenty of OnePlus’s before it, but its implementation on the 8T is great, with images and video packing stacks of detail.

Gorgeous design and feel; Huge; low-on-bezel screen; Impressive value

No telephoto zoom; No wireless charging; Mediocre battery life

OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

The OnePlus 8T checks all the right boxes, while it costs significantly less than most other flagships.

Gorgeous 120Hz display; Buttery-smooth performance; Excellent battery life; Insanely fast charging; Well-optimized software; Really good camera performance; Quality build (materials)

No wireless charging; No official IP rating

OnePlus 8T 128GB Lunar Silver KB2000S review

When the OnePlus 8 arrived earlier this year, it has a few missing elements. The attractive price did mean you could overlook those, but there was always the risk of the phone falling behind once the rivals upped their game. And they have.

OnePlus 8T review

Already have a OnePlus 8? There’s no need to upgrade to the OnePlus 8T. It’s a similar phone. The back has been fiddled with a little, the macro camera is less useless than it was, and the B&W takes on the job of “redundant camera sensor” position that seems to be mandatory in every mid-price phone if 2020. OnePlus’s jump to a 120Hz screen is only half welcome. It looks great in action but we’re not too pleased by how battery-hungry it is, based on real-world testing. That added gloss isn’t always worth the cost for those who use their phone a lot and need it to actually last ’til midnight. OnePlus has lost most of the value mojo had back in its early years. If that’s what you want, you’ll find some of it in cheaper phones from Realme and Xiaomi Poco. Still, if only a top-tier processor and fancy glass back design will hit the spot, the OnePlus 8T is still a great buy.

Plenty of power and a sensible enough price; Improved low-light photography and video; Crowd-pleasing size; Super-fast charging;

Disappointing battery life in 120Hz mode; Less fancy design than older OnePlus 8;
