It switches like magic! One second, you're using Nintendo Switch as a home console, and the next you're taking it with you as a portable system. It's totally awesome no matter which way you use it.

HD to handheld

When used as a home console, the Nintendo Switch lets you play a great range of cool games in immersive HD. If you wish to use it in handheld mode, the experience is still pretty stunning thanks to a multi-touch capacitive touch screen which can display a resolution of 1280 x 720.

The joy of Joy-Con

The Joy-Con controllers really give Nintendo Switch an edge on similar gaming devices. One of the best features is HD Rumble; imagine your Joy-Con is a glass. With HD rumble, you'll feel the difference as you add ice cubes and pour water into the glass. This sense of touch goes way beyond the normal vibrations you might have experienced in other controllers. Meanwhile the IR Motion Camera can detect shape, movement, and the distance of objects captured by the camera, adding an extra thrill to your gameplay.

A word to the grownups

Parental controls on Nintendo Switch allows you to manage how your family interacts with the device.

Hours of fun

Excellent battery life means the fun can last for more than six hours, depending on software and usage conditions. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played for about three hours on one charge.

A mountain of memory

There's plenty of memory to play with here. 32GB of internal memory, while storage space can be extended by simply using microSDHC or microSDXC cards.

"Great device - limited titles"

Awesome device, playing Legend of Zelda is almost worth the price. Good battery life. In my opinion wait until E3 or later for more titles, as it is, with no backwards compatibility with WiiU games its a bit limited.

Nintendo changed portable gaming again!

I've enjoyed this console since I got it and the line up for the games this year is still going strong, I've owned four games and I always bring my Switch just to play Mario Kart and Arms with friends, but the game I've been playing for more than 50 hours right now is TLoZ: Breath of the Wild, this...

Amazing fun

I love it so much, this and my PC are all I need to game
Pros:
  • It's incredibly fun
  • and you can pick it up and go which is something I've always wanted in a console
Cons:
  • for the price, it'd be nice if 1-2 Switch was bundled with the console
  • Also, don't buy the Mario bundle on Newegg as it's grossly overpriced right now
  • Retail is $380

Great looking red and Mario is great

Having not owned a Nintendo console since the gameboy Color, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Once I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many accessories were in the box. I even came with a holder for the joycons, wrist straps and even a hdmi cable.

The sticky subject with the Switch is, unfortunately, price. At £280 it's not actually all that much for a brand-new console. Both the PS4 and Xbox One retailed at far higher prices at launch and were arguably nowhere near as versatile.

Only buy if you have bottomless pockets!

Spent £320 on the console and one game for my 11 year old son for Christmas. 5 months and 4 expensive games later and he says its boring because he has completed all the games. I can't keep buying any more and he doesn't get enough pocket money to buy them himself.
