Nintendo Switch review

4.0
Verdict: One-part handheld and one-part console, Nintendo's latest piece of hardware wants to be the only device you need for gaming. In many ways it's a big success, offering an exceptional level of handheld graphical quality, before seamlessly transitioning into a home console – but this very adaptability...
Pros: Unique hybrid design, HD Rumble, Two controllers included, Bright, crisp, colorful screen
Cons: Joy-Cons charge only on console without accessory, Split D-pad, Oddly placed right analogue stick, Limited online service at launch

Nintendo Switch

4.0
Verdict: Nintendo is taking a bold step with its latest game system. The $299 Switch is effectively a total replacement for the Wii U console, but it also can be used as a handheld like the 3DS.
Pros: Attractive, innovative design. Solid build quality. Joy-Cons feel comfortable to use in multiple configurations
Cons: Short battery life. Flimsy kickstand

Nintendo Switch Review

No reviews
Verdict: The Nintendo switch is a powerful hand-held Console compared to its predecessors. It surpasses the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS in every way. Although as a home console, it lacks the power that the 3-year-old PS4 and Xbox One has.
Pros: Feels like a premium product, Very portable, Option to play at home and on-the-go, Quick and hassle-free transition from handheld to gaming on the TV, Waking it up from Sleep mode is almost instantaneous, Decent graphics
Cons: Frame rate issues when docked, Joy-Con on its own could be limiting to use, Cannot charge Joy-Cons on the Grip, Cannot backup files, Cannot connect to a wireless headphone

Nintendo Switch

4.0
Verdict: As has been the case for past couple of generations in the home console space, Nintendo went in a different direction than either of its rivals (Sony and Microsoft) with the Switch . Once again, Nintendo's newest console does not engage the competition in a specs war.

Verdict: Lacklustre games line-up aside, we're really excited about the Switch. Not only is it a drastic improvement on the Wii U before it, but we're pretty much sold on the concept of the hybrid console, which is meticulously designed and offers truly innovative gameplay with its Joy-Con controllers.

Nintendo Switch

4.0
Verdict: Next to the aforementioned power button is a volume rocker, while further along the top edge is a vent, a 3.5mm audio/headphone output and a flip out...
Pros: Zelda, Some very nifty engineering, Generally very good build quality, Screen is bright, colourful and accurate, Headphone output of good quality,...
Cons: Joy-Con occasionally disconnects, Stick & button layout can be awkward, Headphone only available in handheld mode, Wi-Fi capability could be better,...

Nintendo Switch Review

No reviews
Verdict: The most compelling reason to get the Nintendo Switch is to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , and that'll continue to be true for a while. While that hopefully won't come to define the Switch, Nintendo has a ways to go to convince everyone else.
Pros: Going from home to handheld use is easy and convenient, simple user interface, games are designed to take advantage of the system's strengths, HD Rumble is neat (if a little gimmicky)
Cons: Online gameplay is still an unknown, some will find the Joy-Con controllers too small when separated from the console, doesn't include a carrying case, few games available at launch, no support for wireless headphones

Nintendo Switch Review: Jack of all trades or master (system) of none?

No reviews
Verdict: Nintendo already had its eyes on making a TV-based games console portable when it released the Wii U back in 2012. Sadly, the lack of games, the extremely slow loading of games, and an even more irritatingly slow OS failed to catch on when compared to what the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were doing...

Nintendo Switch Review: How Nintendo Won Me Back

4.0
Verdict: Okay, I'll admit it. For the last two console launches, I've been a Nintendo hater. But that changes with the Nintendo Switch. Priced at $299, the Switch is a truly innovative product that has the ability to literally switch between play modes.
Pros: Console offers three modes of play, Solid build, Ease to setup and use
Cons: Can't charge the Joy-Con controllers separately, Small launch title catalog, Screen highly reflective in the sun, Expensive accessories

Nintendo Switch review

Verdict: In many ways, Nintendo Switch is what the Wii U should have been, and even reprises some of the best games in its catalogue. It's a better built machine, sporting higher grade materials, an innovative Joy-Con controller setup, and a gorgeous screen.

Nintendo Switch Review: A Truly Portable Gaming Console

3.8
Verdict: As it is with every product that Nintendo launches ( NES Mini , anyone), there was a lot of hype around the launch of the Nintendo Switch ( $299 at Best Buy, $299 at Amazon). Fans and reviewers alike were excited to get their hands on this new console that came with a dock for playing on the TV,...
Pros: Portable gaming solution, Amazing TV Mode, Tactile buttons and decent touch screen, Responsive UI, Amazing Joy-Con battery life, microSD support (upto 2TB!
Cons: TV Mode, Display quality is mediocre, Weak kickstand, Mediocre battery life from the console, No Bluetooth headphone support, Only 32GB internal memory

Nintendo Switch

3.5
Verdict: Nintendo does things differently. First came the Wii's motion controllers, then Wii U's tablet-style GamePad. Now the Nintendo Switch delivers a portable and home console in one that works well wherever you want to play on the go as well as at home.
Pros: Incredibly easy to use, Gaming wherever you want, The Joy-Con controllers are packed with tech, Bright and colourful screen
Cons: Accessories are very expensive, Games cost more than on other platforms

Nintendo Switch News and Rumor Round-up

No reviews
Verdict: A few days ago, sharp eyes across the internet noticed that Nintendo's Switch console has been added to lists of compliant hardware at The Khronos Group . Vulkan 1.0 was the eye-catcher, although the other tabs also claims conformance with OpenGL 4.5 and OpenGL ES 3.2.

Nintendo Switch Review – The Foundation Of A Must-have Console

No reviews
Verdict: Honestly, there's a lot to like about the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo is marketing it as a home console, which it is definitely competent at being, but where it excels and goes far beyond what any other gaming device has been able to do is in its ability to successfully take that full home console...

Nintendo Switch

5.0
Verdict: The sticky subject with the Switch is, unfortunately, price. At £280 it's not actually all that much for a brand-new console. Both the PS4 and Xbox One retailed at far higher prices at launch and were arguably nowhere near as versatile.

Nintendo Switch Review

4.0
Verdict: The Nintendo Switch is a homerun for Nintendo, and delivers on its innovative premise.
Pros: Hybrid home/portable console, Sharp display, Unique multi-scheme controller, Intuitive design, Great Nintendo games
Cons: Poor battery life/storage, Some controller options don't feel good during long gameplay sessions, Third-party developer support is thin

Nintendo Switch review: Excellent hardware with one roadblock

3.5
Verdict: I have something of a love/hate relationship with Nintendo consoles, especially in recent years. While I grew up with consoles like the Super NES, Nintendo 64, and Gamecube, in the time since then my preference has shifted to Nintendo's handhelds like the DS and the 3DS.
Pros: Nintendo's dream of hybrid gaming fully realized, Truly exciting hardware that stands out from the rest, Fairly solid launch lineup, especially with Zelda
Cons: Accessories are far too expensive, Online systems still need a lot of work, Launch feels rushed in general

Nintendo Switch

Verdict: The Nintendo Switch is Nintendo's successor to the Wii U , a home console with some great ideas and games that fell flat in execution. But the Switch has more in common with the iPad , or the slew of Android devices that have captured mainstream attention.
Pros: Sturdy build quality, Region-free store, Easy to use interface, Seamless switch between portable and home console use
Cons: Sturdy build quality, Region-free store, Easy to use interface, Seamless switch between portable and home console use, Screen is easy to scratch, Can't pause downloads

Nintendo Switch review: Return of the king?

4.0
Verdict: There is always plenty of attention afforded a new games console launch, not least when it has Nintendo slapped across the front. But after the relative failure of the Wii U, it seems there are more eyes on the company's new machine - the Nintendo Switch - than ever before.
Pros: Joy-Cons are versatile and well-built, easy to dock, handheld mode works well, up to 1080p 60fps graphics, you don't need the pricey accessories
Cons: Only 32GB without microSD card, no game in the box, no media streaming apps at launch, limited launch line-up

Nintendo Switch: Portable gaming jukebox of joy?

No reviews
Verdict: It's hard not to review a brand new console against what you'd like it to be, rather than what it is, going on such little evidence. Nintendo make great games and once made great consoles, but of late have lost the pulse of the public.

Nintendo Switch Review – Revolutionary Piece of Innovative Hardware

4.0
Verdict: The Nintendo Switch is finally here. After what felt like ages speculating as to what Nintendo's codename NX was, it feels almost surreal to finally hold what is undoubtedly Nintendo's coolest piece of hardware yet.
Pros: True console gaming on the go, Innovative modular design, Joy-Cons feel great, Clean and simple UI
Cons: Connectivity issues with left Joy-Con, Lack of features out of the box

Nintendo Switch

4.2
Verdict: The Switch fixes all of the mistakes of the Wii U and doubles-down on that system's best feature. But there are still plenty of issues and unanswered questions that leave us worried.
Pros: Innovative hardware, Being able to play your games anywhere is unique, A huge step up from the Wii U
Cons: So-so battery life, Screen doesn't work well outside, Still waiting on more features, Expensive accessories

Nintendo Switch

4.0
Verdict: Nintendo dares. No other hardware manufacturer takes the kind of risks Nintendo so often does. Whether or not it ultimately pays off is no reason to ridicule a philosophy that may not have served the company well in recent history, but which did make them a household name.

Review: Nintendo Switch

3.5
Verdict: Nintendo's Switch comes out on Friday. I've been playing with the Switch -an all-in-one gaming machine that works as both a handheld device and a TV game console-for the last two weeks.
Pros: Gaming anywhere you want. Joy-Cons are marvelous, versatile controllers. Amazing graphic quality from a relatively small tablet; Not as powerful as a PS4, but Nintendo got out of that game a decade ago. Sleek UI. Region-free game shopping is the best
Cons: Left Joy-Con's wireless connection is flaky. Can't charge controllers while playing on TV. Can't charge the tablet in kickstand mode. Online functionality is bare-bones. EXPIRED: Goddamned Friend Codes again

Nintendo Switch Review: Forward looking, but not ready today

3.8
Verdict: Nintendo is selling a promise With the Switch, Nintendo is essentially selling a $400 promise. Pros: Handheld-home console hybrid is compelling, Build quality is impressive, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is amazing
Cons: Launch titles are not great, It's expensive at $400 CAD, Battery life is less than stellar

Nintendo Switch

Verdict: The received wisdom in the gaming industry is that Nintendo builds plans around what it calls a ‘white shark' policy. The way the industry works is this: someone comes up with something that proves popular – be it software or hardware – and everyone else in the industry says ‘let's do that'.

Nintendo Switch review: a brave and fascinating new console

Nintendo Switch review: the BigN knocks it out of the park with its innovative new console/tablet hybrid

4.5
Verdict: So the Nintendo Switch has now been out for over a month and the dust is settling so to speak after one hell of a launch. Indeed, the Nintendo Switch proved to be so popular that Nintendo has had to double the production run on the new console to keep up with demand, with gamers falling over...
Pros: Innovative design, Premium look and feel, Attractive price point
Cons: Not as powerful as PS4 or Xbox One, Third party support is, right now, largely an unknown quantity

Great looking red and Mario is great

5.0
Verdict: Having not owned a Nintendo console since the gameboy Color, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Once I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many accessories were in the box. I even came with a holder for the joycons, wrist straps and even a hdmi cable.

Amazing fun

5.0
Verdict: I love it so much, this and my PC are all I need to game
Pros: It's incredibly fun, and you can pick it up and go which is something I've always wanted in a console
Cons: for the price, it'd be nice if 1-2 Switch was bundled with the console. Also, don't buy the Mario bundle on Newegg as it's grossly overpriced right now. Retail is $380

Nintendo Switch

3.0
Verdict: I got this for my daughter for Christmas and she loves it! We have used all that it comes with (minus the skin voucher - she didnt seem interested in that at all). The carry case is nice and sturdy, love that it comes with headphones as she is always misplacing hers, and the screen protector goes on...

It's ok, but not a patch on the PS4 according to my children.

1.0
Verdict: Unfortunately I bought this for Christmas for my children, who already had a PS4. Unfortunately they find the controllers much more difficult to use than the PS4 controllers and it largely sits around unused. They would rather play on the PS4, or failing that, their ipad. Wouldn't recommend.

Nintendo Switch Starter Kit - Mario "M" Edition

4.0
Verdict: My son is a big fan of Mario and this was a great starter kit for his Nintendo Switch. It came with a screen protector which I applied right away; it was made well and had no bubbles after applying. The case is cute and has a little rubber coin on the zipper.

Verdict: Spent £320 on the console and one game for my 11 year old son for Christmas. 5 months and 4 expensive games later and he says its boring because he has completed all the games. I can't keep buying any more and he doesn't get enough pocket money to buy them himself.
