I would recommend this as the lens of choice for the beginning photographer. It will do anything you are able to take until you go into areas requiring a special lens.
Pros:
  • This has become my lens of choice
  • I have 21 Nikon lens, and the two competitors are a Nikkor 18-55mm F/3.5-f/5.6 AF-S Lens and a Nikkor 55-200mm f/4.0-f/5.6 ED AF-S, as well as macro and some prime lens
  • However, unless I am taking Marco photographs, this lens is what I use most of the time.
Cons:
  • A little heavy at times and wish I had a better lens hood
  • Sometimes I would like a faster lens, but then I change to my 50mm f1.8

Good value lens

This lens is used on a D7200. I like the way this lens focuses, It finds focus fast and does not hunt. I like the sharpness of the images. I like the light weight. I use this lens primarily for wildlife photography. I works ok for large birds but does not have enough reach for small birds.

A great walking around lens

I bought this lens as a kit lens with a D7500, and think it's a great walking around lens. Yes, it's bigger than the 18-55. When I shot the 18-55, I was always wishing it had a little more reach. The 18-140 focuses quickly and has pretty good reach. I've been happy with the images.

Really wanted to like this lens

Ive been trying to like this lens for a couple years. It ended up on my spare camera that I keep in the back of my car and rarely ever use. Its just too soft at all focal lengths and aperatures compared with any other lenses in by bag.

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

I purchased this lens as I found myself changing lenses frequently with the 18-55 and 55-300mm I currently have. This lens fits the bill. Everything you would expect in a Nikon lens in terms of quality. Very happy and not constantly fumbling to switch things out.

I am so happy with this lens. It takes super clear shots and is light to carry. Great value for money. Now I only have to carry one lens around as this one does everything. Love it!

Great all purpose lens

Matched this lens with a Nikon D5500. Great combo of wide angle and zoom makes it very useful lens for most situations.
