Nikon HG 8x42 L DCF

The HG L series includes ones of the most expensive, top-of-the-range Nikon binoculars; the producer ensures that they used ?everything the best" while producing them. It consists of roof prism models with the following parameters: 8x20, 10x25, 8x32, 10x32, 8x42 and 10x42.
Pros:
  • very solid casing
  • good transmission
  • perfectly sharp image across the whole field of view
  • low chromatic aberration in the centre of the field of view
  • very low astigmatism
  • quite well corrected coma
  • low brightness loss on the edge of the field
  • low distortion
  • very good whiteness rendering
  • very...
Cons:
  • a bit too high chromatic aberration on the edge of the field of view

Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S Nikkor review by dhale001

I use this lens for low light and low light action on a Nikon D800E or D3200. Perfect for "no flash" indoor parties and night time street photography. The best 24mm ever made by anyone.
Pros:
  • Sharp
  • very fast
Cons:
  • None

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f1.4G ED

With the popularity of zooms, particularly of constant aperture f2.8 types amongst the press, not to mention DSLRs with variable ISOs and ultra-high sensitivities, the fast prime has been overlooked in recent times. But that's changing.

Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED AF-S Nikkor

This lens is a little overhyped. I've used the Canon 24mm f/1.4L II, and the Nikon is really only slightly better in some aspects as seen in the post below. I wouldn't switch systems for this lens. The reason you buy this lens is for the f/1.4.
Pros:
  • f/1.4
  • sharp*
  • gorgeous bokeh
  • unusually thick lens hood
  • solid build
  • great feeling MF ring
Cons:
  • *sharpness at f/1.4 is a little overhyped
  • AF sometimes is slightly inconsistent
  • CA regardless of aperture

24mm f/1.4G is worth the high price

Love the lens. It is a perfect compliment to my D800E. I do recomment stopping it down to 2.0 for better color corner to corner (some vignetting at 1.4). Really becomes sharp from f/4.0 to f/16. This is a great landscape and interior focal length. Resolution is a good match for the D800E.

Lots has already been said about this lens, but my favorite aspect is the unique rendering it provides. It has some pretty heavy vingetting wide open, but it is very natural looking and contributes to the overall look of the images.Stop down to f/4 or 5.6 and nothing in this focal length can touch...
Pros:
  • Amazingly sharp, contrasty and lovely rendering
  • Moderate but easily correctible distortion
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Unreliable auto focus in contra lighting

If you love wide angle primes, get it

I am a wide angle fanatic. I love to layer my photos and frame subjects through busy foreground elements. So when I was looking for a new wide lens, it was between this one or the 14-24mm 2.8.

captured images are so creamy

I chose the 24mm f/1.4G ED as my first serious lens when I upgraded and bought a new camera even though it was the pricier of the other f/1.4s which I would eventually get. i ran into some auto-focus issues that turned out to be just me not knowing how to use my new camera which the people at the...
