This lens was defective and not near as sharp as advertised. I tried several techniques to correct this without success. Be carful buying from this seller as this lens is very expensive.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED Review

The AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED is a fast wide-angle lens for Nikon SLRs, but it's expensive. The AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED ($1,999.95) is a fast wide-angle lens for Nikon SLRs. If you're looking for a fast wide-angle lens, it's a solid choice, but one that comes with a premium price tag. If you're willing to sacrifice some light-gathering capability, the AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED ($676.95 at Amazon) is a solid alternative that's far less expensive. If you don't want to sacrifice the f/1.4 aperture, look at the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art ($849.00 at Amazon) , which earns Editors' Choice marks thanks to its mix of performance and price. Nikon 24mm 1.4

The Nikon 24mm F1.4 is a dream lens to use. Its centre sharpness is extraordinary with great edge sharpness from about F4 onwards. The build quality is typical Nikon pro level and the focus is swift and quiet.

captured images are so creamy

I chose the 24mm f/1.4G ED as my first serious lens when I upgraded and bought a new camera even though it was the pricier of the other f/1.4s which I would eventually get. i ran into some auto-focus issues that turned out to be just me not knowing how to use my new camera which the people at the...

If you love wide angle primes, get it

I am a wide angle fanatic. I love to layer my photos and frame subjects through busy foreground elements. So when I was looking for a new wide lens, it was between this one or the 14-24mm 2.8.

Lots has already been said about this lens, but my favorite aspect is the unique rendering it provides. It has some pretty heavy vingetting wide open, but it is very natural looking and contributes to the overall look of the images.Stop down to f/4 or 5.6 and nothing in this focal length can touch...
Pros:
  • Amazingly sharp, contrasty and lovely rendering
  • Moderate but easily correctible distortion
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Unreliable auto focus in contra lighting
