Great piece of Nikon Glass
I enjoy the fast focus, great depth of field, and quality of the image.

Flexibility for lighter cameras
"I purchased this for off camera flash work. It works great with a canon flash which weighs a little over a pound. The quick release tab helps reduce the hassle of setting up, and the tripod is capable of holding the flash securely.

This was a great find!
I mainly use this lens for portraiture and closeups. Pros: * The focus is very fast, which makes me cheer compared to the relatively slow 55-200mm. * The bokeh is decent, but after getting used to my f/1.8 on the 35mm prime it can be a bit underwhelming.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Nice Bokeh
- Rugged
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Heavy
- Tough To Attach

Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4D AF Lens
While I hope to create a full Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4D AF Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information and...

Quite the best Nikon lens in this range, I have used and at that price an absolute steal. I have a very sharp copy with no front or rear focussing issues and sharp at the 24mm (f2.8) end though slightly less so at the 85mm end. Very well built and nicely balanced on my D80.
Pros:
- F2.8 is effective
- great for portraits
- no silent wave focussing but no slouch either
- Can be used confidently in a whole host of situations especially relatively low light despite not having VR
Cons:
- I believe there is some inconsistency in the quality from lens to lens
- Not really a true landscape lens on a cropped sensor camera

I bought this lens specifically for a "space-limited" extended trip I went on. A few times I wished it had a little longer upper end, but overall it did what it was supposed to. It has a good wide-angle for scenics, and the short telephoto worked well for people shots.
Pros:
- nice zoom range for everyday lens
- fast enough to be useful
- closeup mode (macro

Nikon 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF AF Nikkor review by lightknight
this is a very underestimated zoom which is capable of great image quality from about F5.6 onwards. Its slightly weak at 85mm. I have primes for 85, 50, and 28 mm but this lens loses little to these up to around F11.
Pros:
- good range
- FX compatible
- fast at wide angle
- fast focussing
- sharp
Cons:
- very short focus range so hard to focus manually
- slightly too much plastic

Nikon 24-85D F2.8-4.0 lens
This is probably the most underated lens in the Nikon range. In terms of focus it is far superior to the 24-120 and it produces pin sharp images from edge to edge. It is also fast, offers a good macro facilty, and is portable.

Nikon AF Zoom Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF Lens Review
Nikon AF Zoom Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF was first released in early 2000 to compliment the growing range of Nikon's arsenal of standard zoom lenses. Nikon followed up with an updated version of this lens circa 2003, however, Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G IF ED was very short-lived - by...
