Netgear R6300 802.11ac wireless router
We used the Netgear R6300 almost exclusively for at least two months and found it to be rock solid. It distributed our iiNet ADSL2+ connection without any problems and we didn't encounter any stability issues across the wired, wireless or USB interfaces of the router.- Super-fast Wi-Fi
- Good USB sharing performance
- Very reliable performer
- Needs 802.11ac adapters to work best
- Hardware design a little awkward
- Parental filters not the easiest to set up
Netgear R6300 and Buffalo AirStation WZR-D1800H, the fastest 802.11ac WiFi routers in town
Netgear announced what was supposedly the world's first 802.11ac WiFi router weeks ago, R6300. The dual band gigabit WiFi router delivers internet speeds of up to three times faster than 802.11n. Buffalo beat them at their own race by announcing and releasing AirStation WZR-D1800H right away.
Netgear R6300 review
The Netgear R6300 is the second 11ac wireless router to market, and while far from reaching gigabit speeds its wireless offers relatively solid performance.
Netgear R6300 WiFi Router 802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit
Netgear's R6300 WiFi Router 802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit ($199.99) introduces Netgear's 11ac offering to the market. In a rather bold move, Netgear actually uses the "802.11ac" standard in the name of this product, although 802.11ac is yet to be ratified and is not expected to be until sometime next...- Genie software provides easy setup and management
- Supports draft 802.11ac
- Dual USB ports
- Very good performance in 2.4 GHz N-only mode
- IPv6 support
- Runs cool
- Bizarre design that limits placement
- Performance not on par with other Netgear dual-bands
- No USB 3.0
As the first router of a new generation, the Netgear R6300 can definitely be called a success. Granted, 1.3 gbps is still quite a way away, but there are clear performance gains compared to 802.11n.
The pipe just got wider
I was in the market to upgrade my router so I decided to bite the bullet and get the latest and greatest. So far, it has not disappointed. Doing the same speed test on Speakeasy from my local area, my download speed with a Netgear wireless N adapter WN111 v2 went from around 12-15 mbps on the old...

Netgear R6300 802.11ac Wireless Router Review
Netgear seems to have solved that problem by introducing their newest flagship router, the Netgear R6300 WiFi Router. Besides the sleek physical features, this Netgear features the next-generation Wi-Fi standard also known as 802.11ac which as we have seen is a monster step beyond anything that you...
Netgear R6300
The R6300 is quite a beast of a router, and it certainly gives a promise of things to come. While we score it highly, we'd hold off on purchasing anything 802.11ac until client chips are more widespread - by then, there'll likely be something even better around.- Incredible performance
- Supports 2.4GHz
- 5GHz n and ac simultaneously
- Gigabit WAN
- Can set up via mobile devices
- Huge and bulky
- Although they should be along soon
- no 802.11ac wireless adapters are available yet to take advantage of it
- Mobile app needs a lot of finessing
- Netgear's router UI still needs work
Netgear R6300 router review: The second-fastest router we've tested
Many of my favorite routers over the past three years have borne the Netgear brand. The company's first 802.11ac model, the R6300, is an excellent...- A very fast 802.11ac router
- DLNA media server
- Very good NAS
- Bulky industrial design
