Amazing but pricey

I can't believe I have been using a gateway. This thing is amazing. It's beaming technology that locks on signal for higher range works! I get a signal in our garage 50 feet from the house. 75 feet from the router trough 2 concrete walls.

Wireless signal drops off very quickly as you get farther away from the router. Not impressed at all with the performance. Wireless speed also seems to deteriorate over time, requiring frequent reboots to resolve.

Great features for home or small business

Easy to get setup for quick access and basic use. Takes a bit more time to configure all the extra bells and whistles but there are some nice feature to use such as parental controls, whitelist and blacklist for url addresses, map of devices on your network, etc...

Pros:
  • good accuracy
Cons:
  • only 20 port forwarding rules allowed

Good router

After doing a lot of research about signal drops I found out the changing the 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz wi-fi connections to channels 9 and 161 respectively did the trick for my wireless system making it interference and drop off free.

  • Great range
  • Easy to setup with the NETGEAR Genie application (updating the firmware to the latest version easy too)
  • No signal drops in my case
  • I have 9 devices connected to this router
  • Iphone
