Good for the Money

Around Thanksgiving of 2014 my Linksys N router gave up the ghost (been through 3 of those). So walked into the local brick and mortar in mid December and picked this puppy up on sale for about 79.99 not expecting much. Also grabbed the matching "A6210" USB adapter for the guest room connection.

Runs solid with firmware V1.0.0.16_1.0.1

USB 2.0 Readyshare (Seriously

Netgear R6220: Strong Performance for the Price

As the affordable 802.11ac router market becomes more crowded, a device like Netgear's R6220 ($93.89) stands out with the right mix of performance and features. In addition to having a USB port for networking your printer or hard drive, the R6220 offers parental controls for filtering objectionable...

Good performance; USB port for hard drive or printer; On/off wireless switch; Parental controls for restricting web surfing; Low price tag

USB ports use slower; 2.0 spec; Can't change antennas; Lacks the latest performance-boosting technology

Ugly But Effective

Great router held back by uninspiring packaging. I can't fault the quality here. Think of it as the V6 Camry of the router world. It carries out the assigned task without drama and without being noticed.

Quick setup, good coverage, no problem streaming multiple video data streams at once; Rock solid stable

Frankly, I preferred the previous R6200/6300 models and how they stood up, thus allowing air to pass along both sides and preventing people from laying other devices on top (switches being the most common item); Aesthetically, the R6220 is not a sight to behold either.

Works great

I had to upgrade from the 300 to this one because my games would lag when my girlfriend watched Netflix on her tablet. Plugged it in, easy setup, linked all devices and haven't had lag since. All stars given were well deserved.

Netgear AC1200 Smart Wi-Fi Router (R6220)

Budget routers provide a relatively inexpensive way to bring wireless networking to your home, but as is usually the case, saving money comes with sacrifices. You won't get the same performance as you do from a more powerful (and more expensive) model like the Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream AC1900...

Affordable; Solid dual-band performance; Plenty of management settings

Non-removable antennas; USB port is 2.0

Easy to setup

Took very little time to get up and running. Hardest part was getting Spectrum to send the proper signal, but that was soon alleviated.

You get what you pay for

Purchased this router thinking it would be an upgrade from my old wireless N router; it was not. Range is poor, whether on 2.4 or 5ghz connection. Speed loss is very noticable with any distance from the router.

Excellent

Easy to set up and works really well. We had reached saturation point with the Virgin Media Super Hub due to the number of devices in the house. Switched the VM Hub to modem mode and connected it up to the netgear now all devices connect OK , speed and reliability has improved massively.
