Doesn't maintain gig speeds
Purchased 3 of these and one of the 8 port and they all did the same thing. They work fine for a few days running everything at gig speeds. Then they drop to 10mbps for no reason. On some of the units a power cycle would correct the issue for a few days but then it happens again.

Big aspirations, bad implementation
The product was put to network a few home computers with Gigabit interface. The spped of LAN has improved (2-3 times compared to FastEthernet). However, this product has huge problems with understanding traffic from Internet (from modem and router).
Pros:
- Supposedly QoS
- but poorly implemented
Cons:
- Problems with throuput on downstream from Internet

Netgear GS605 v2 Failed after 3 Years
My Netgear GS605 v2 worked well for a little over three years. Then I suddenly noticed problems streaming music and video from the NAS which connects to my home network using this switch.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- worked well for 3 years
Cons:
- Failed after 3 years
- Did not stop working completely, just vastly degraded throughput, making it harder to identify it as the source of network issues

"Looks good, performs great"
I was after a small, "not ugly" switch recently to square away the various devices in the study and the lounge (consoles, laptops, you know the drill). I found this one online, and thought it had "the look" – and it does.

Great Product & price
Purchased this one to replace an older switch. There has been no issues and it corrected the issues we had with our computer. Great product and great price.

NETGEAR GS605 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch
Had a netgear lengthy ago, attempted a dlink and went back to netgear. Excellent interface, strong speed and efficiencyTruly like that I can transform network settings (such as mac address allocations or port forwarding) and the device does NOT reset just about every single time.

if your a gamer this hub is for you.you can use it to share files play lan games and much more. you can also set a great home network.

Great inexpensive Gigabit switch
When I was recently in the market for a Gigabit switch, I was unable to justify the price of a managed switch from the likes of Dell or Cisco. This switch is nothing fancy, just a name brand 5 port Gigabit switch.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- works as advertised
Cons:
- No cons come to mind

Found the purchase price of the product very good and easy hook up. Much better than the older model I had. I recommend this to other buyers.
