It plays things

It's a games console, with some issues occasionally revolving the disc tray (nothing a reset doesn't fix) Plays games and blu-rays, hasn't run out of space yet..... yeah, it's a games console.

Microsoft Xbox One System Review

It's been a long time coming but we finally have our review wrapped up for Microsoft's new Xbox One. I had to stop myself short there from calling it a "video game system" because Microsoft has a grand vision for their not-so-little black box.

Positives Nice launch lineup of games; Kinect voice commands when they work; great SmartGlass support; intuitive game DVR and editing tools; Snap multitask; ability to play while installing

Negatives Unappealing hardware design; poorly designed tile menus; lack of built-in battery on gamepad; lack of info on hard drive or battery usage; mandatory Xbox Live subscription for even basic functionality; finicky Kinect motion detection and rigid voice commands; many features like Twitch and...

Xbox One Review

At the Xbox One's launch, Microsoft took the position of wanting to be the console that offered everything in one place, but it didn't fully deliver on that. Now, a year later, the Xbox One's major features have been strengthened enough so they clearly stand out, and the media-saturated environment...

Microsoft Xbox One

With E3 2015 safely in the rearview mirror and the Xbox One's second anniversary fast approaching, we're diving back in the home console pond to take the temperature of the current landscape of videogame consoles.

Microsoft's Xbox One offers impressive graphics and a solid list of exclusive 2015 titles; The Microsoft console currently edges ahead of the PS4 with a better selection of media apps; The console's fall-2015 dashboard update is a noticeable improvement.

The Xbox One's new interface is still more convoluted than the PS4's; In general, the PS4 delivers slightly better installation times, graphics and performance on cross-platform games; The Xbox One also lags behind the PS4 in its selection of indie games; The Kinect's legacy is still a blemish

Xbox One Review

It's fair to say the Xbox One hasn't had the easiest introduction to the world. At its announcement it was derided for a host of deficiencies compared to its big competitor, the . It required an always-on internet connection, you couldn't sell on games once you'd finished with them, it had seemingly...

Not exactly what I was hoping for

I wished I would of asked more people about the pros of this console but with 4 to 5 free games I justified it. Just didn't except it would be tying up my internet connection for 5 days updating the 4 to 5 games that came with it.

The graphics once you get them working after updates look decent

- No HDMI CEC support; - Games appear to be installed which takes a while and even with the partial install play while you wait its a bad UX; - Game updates like for Star Wars Battlefield was 16.8GB which stretches the term update to the max.

Xbox One Review

I think we'll look back at 2016 as a landmark year for console gaming – the year when manufacturers ditched the whole idea of console generations to follow a more straightforward, less risky smartphone-like release model where you no longer abandon your existing hardware and customer base every five...

Great exclusive titles; Superb controller; Improved software and apps ecosystem; More strong games on the horizon

Struggling to match the PS4 on raw performance; Big and bulky; Superceded by the Xbox One S with Xbox One X on the way
