The Microsoft Surface Pro isn't just novel, though that certainly is part of its appeal along with the sexy design and high quality look and feel. It's a landmark marriage of computing power and portability.
Pros:
- Classy and good looking, great build and materials, fast, clean Windows 8 Pro install, comes with digital pen, 1080p display, wildly portable for a Core i5 machine.
Cons:
- A little heavy for a tablet, a bit small for a laptop
- but a valiant attempt at marrying the two. Battery life passable but not laudable.

There’s no word on the pricing of the Surface Pro, but you can be sure that it will be expensive – the Windows RT powered Surface is the budget, consumer model, while the Surface Pro will be aimed at professionals and business users.

Microsoft's Surface Pro has sized up, embracing its laptop side in an attempt to unseat the MacBook Air as your computer of choice. The Surface Pro 3 won't succeed, but it's a damn good effort. What Is It? Microsoft's third swing at reinventing the laptop and the tablet at the same time.
Pros:
- The Surface hardware is beautiful as always, but now it has functionality to back it up
- The combo of new hinge, Type Cover lock-bar-thingy, and a bigger screen make the Surface Pro finally laptop enough .
Cons:
- It's not exactly a flaw but Microsoft doesn't include Type Cover with the devices it sells
- that's an extra $130. And considering that it's basically mandatory, the Surface Pro 3 is actually, sneakily, $130 more expensive than Microsoft would have you believe.

- Beautiful screen
- Packs so much into so little
- Neat OneNote integration
Cons:
- The dearth of USB ports
- The touchpad remains mediocre
- Some people will find it expensive
- It's still the best laptop replacement that can't actually replace a laptop

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 review
Imagine if you had a time machine that could send you back exactly 13 years. The rules of time travel don't let you change the past, but they do allow you to ask one question of a single person (time travel is, after all, very complicated).
Pros:
- Thin and light
- Greatly improved kickstand
- High-resolution screen
Cons:
- So-so battery life
- Some software bugs
- No full SD card slot

Moreover, as impressively thin and light as the Surface Pro 3 is, it's still relatively heavy to use for long periods as a tablet. And Microsoft's app store still has a long way to go before it even approaches the selection of quality software available from the Apple iOS and Google Android stores.

- Attractive 3:2 screen
- More versatile kickstand
- Premium look and feel
Cons:
- Still heavy as a tablet
- Keyboard adds $130 to the price
- Runs hot under heavy workloads
