Surface Pro 3 Review: Microsoft FINALLY Got It RIGHT
Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 is a HUGE step in the right direction for Microsoft and an excellent poster boy for Windows
Pros:
- Beautiful display
- Awesome handwriting recognition thanks to the Surface Pen and software
- Great new 3:2 aspect ratio
Cons:
- At 5-6 hours usage for moderate tasks
- the battery life on the Surface Pro 3 leaves something to be desired

Surface Pro 3 - Is it really the tablet that can replace your laptop?
Follow @CyberShack The Surface Pro 3 has been one of my most anticipated devices of the year. While the Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 had a lot of potential, there were a few issues that couldn't be overlooked.
Pros:
- Best example of a hybrid so far
- Included Surface Pen is great
- Display is stunning
Cons:
- Expensive for a tablet
- TypeCover not included
- Trackpad is average
- Windows needs better touch optimisation

The basics Microsoft claims the Surface Pro 3 is "the tablet that can replace your laptop". With a 12-inch screen, it's certainly big enough to back up that boast. But what are its other selling points? And it can it succeed where past Microsoft slates have failed? Let's take a look.
Pros:
- Given its size, you might expect the Surface Pro 3 to be a hulking beast of a machine, but it's actually surprisingly light
- The Surface Pro 2 had a 10.6-inch screen and weighed 907g, whereas the 12-inch Pro 3 somehow manages to tip the scales at 800g.
Cons:
- It might be light, but 12 inches is still pretty large, so it's not all that portable
- You're going to notice it in your bag
- The MacBook Air is still slimmer and lighter, especially when you add the Pro 3's cover.

- Strong battery life in testing
Cons:
- Pricey

- Still only one USB port

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review: Every bit the pro, but battery life is still a blow
Say hello to the Microsoft Surface 5. Ok, ok, so it's "the new Microsoft Surface Pro", rather than adopting the generational number format in its name. And that's quite possibly because this fifth-generation model looks suspiciously like its predecessor.
Pros:
- Refined design is its best yet
- new keyboard (sold separately) makes for best typing experience yet
- great screen resolution and brightness
- plenty of power available - but fanless Core i5 is probably your best bet
Cons:
- Battery life still isn't great (not in the Core i7 model anyway - fanless Core i5 ought to be better in this regard)
- keyboard not included
- can get mighty expensive - to the point a laptop might make more sense

Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 (i5-7300U, 256 GB) Convertible Review
The most noticeable difference between the old Surface Pro 4 and the new Surface Pro 2017 is the latter's improved battery life: more than 12 instead of 7 hours in our Wi-Fi test. No other contestant was able to get even close.

- classy design
- noiseless
- very good battery life (12 - 17 hours
- decent camera with support for Windows Hello
- very good microphone
- bright display with good sRGB coverage
- charges in 2 hours
- very good performance in short bursts <2 minutes
Cons:
- significant throttling in sustained load scenarios
- no USB Type-C
- Signature Type Cover (2017) optional
- Surface Pen (2017) optional

Mixed feeling with the Surface Pro 2017 i5. 8GB and 256GB
After first windows update, the facial recognition function of the camera no longer working. Wasted a few days tried all the resolutions available online, no luck. It seems to be a known issue for a few years for the Intel image front camera. No definitive solution to it.
