Microsoft Surface Pro 5 (i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB, SSD, Win 10 Tablet) - Excellent review

Summary: The Core i5-based Surface Pro combines ultrabook components with a (chunky) 10.6in. tablet form factor to deliver decent performance and excellent build quality. However, a few design issues, missing features and, above all, disappointing battery life suggest you'd be wise to wait and see...
Pros:
  • Solid, elegant hardware design, Runs Windows 8 Pro and legacy software, Ultrabook-level performance, Supports pressure-sensitive pen input
Cons:
  • Disappointing battery life, Kickstand isn't adjustable, No desktop or keyboard dock available, Desktop scaling issues when used with a large external monitor, Lacks GPS and NFC, No mobile broadband option, Stylus needs a storage location within the chassis

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 (i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB, SSD, Win 10 Tablet) - Excellent review

The Surface Pro is an interesting hybrid of a tablet and laptop. Unlike its little sibling (Surface RT), which is considered more of a tablet, the Surface Pro has more affinity to the ultrabook.
Pros:
  • * Great, solid build and design, * Powerful hardware, * Large storage, * Full-sized USB 3.0 port, * Full HD resolution

Surface Pro 3 review: Is the third time the charm?

The Surface Pro line has always struck me as offering good solutions to the wrong problem. I remain tremendously sympathetic to Microsoft's broader objectives. Microsoft's argument is that it's silly to carry around an iPad and a MacBook Air; you can have one piece of hardware that fills both roles,...
Pros:
  • Beautiful design
  • Beautiful screen
  • Packs so much into so little
  • Neat OneNote integration
Cons:
  • The dearth of USB ports
  • The touchpad remains mediocre
  • Some people will find it expensive
  • It's still the best laptop replacement that can't actually replace a laptop

Microsoft's Surface Pro has sized up, embracing its laptop side in an attempt to unseat the MacBook Air as your computer of choice. The Surface Pro 3 won't succeed, but it's a damn good effort. What Is It? Microsoft's third swing at reinventing the laptop and the tablet at the same time.
Pros:
  • The Surface hardware is beautiful as always, but now it has functionality to back it up
  • The combo of new hinge, Type Cover lock-bar-thingy, and a bigger screen make the Surface Pro finally laptop enough .
Cons:
  • It's not exactly a flaw but Microsoft doesn't include Type Cover with the devices it sells
  • that's an extra $130. And considering that it's basically mandatory, the Surface Pro 3 is actually, sneakily, $130 more expensive than Microsoft would have you believe.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 (i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB, SSD, Win 10 Tablet) - Excellent review

There’s no word on the pricing of the Surface Pro, but you can be sure that it will be expensive – the Windows RT powered Surface is the budget, consumer model, while the Surface Pro will be aimed at professionals and business users.

Surface Pro 3 deep-dive review: Has Microsoft finally got it right?

There's a saying about Microsoft that I've heard for a long time: It takes three tries for the company to get something right. For example, it wasn't until Windows reached version 3.0 that the operating system really took off, and it was only when Word 3.0 hit that the word processor became a market...
Pros:
  • Excellent 12-in
  • screen, very good keyboard cover, useful stylus and handwriting recognition, lightweight
Cons:
  • Expensive
  • Windows 8 lacks many apps
  • keyboard cover costs $130 extra

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 (i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB, SSD, Win 10 Tablet) - Excellent review

Microsoft met some resistance with its first Surface tablet, but that isn’t stopping the company from making a second attempt, this time with a full copy of Windows 8. Where the Surface RT left would-be tableteers confused with its partial app support, the Surface Pro is Windows on far more familiar...
