The sound on these speakers underwhelm me. I thought with the sub woofer and 40 watts the sound would be comparable or better than a set of speakers that came standard with the computer from many years ago. I have turned to bass to almost the deepest setting and it sounds hollow and tinny.
I bought these when they were $100 and I'm still happy with them even for that price! Sound quality is very good for the price, but they have "360 degree speakers" meaning the main speakers have rear facing drivers as well.
Decent bass; nice volume
Rear speakers can cause reflections
Good looking set of 2.1 PC speaker with multiple inputs and nice design but the Logitech Z523's mediocre sound does not justify its price tag.
Well, I'm not a mad test freak but having experiences with both the X-240 and Z-4 beforehand, I realised purchasing the Z-523's was certainly a lucrative decision because besides their slick look and compact subwoofer they combined both the punch of the X-240's (due to the downward firing driver)...
Compact System; Deep Bass; Sound fills the room; Volume Dial is convenient
Satellite sound could be a little more clearer
The Logitech Z523 is a nicely designed 2.1 PC speaker system. The build quality of the speaker is not top notch but just above average. The system has a claimed frequency response of 35Hz to 20KHz.
The Logitech Z523 is a mid range 2.1 speaker system that promises to deliver a sound projecting uniformly in all directions. Let's immerse ourselves into this 360 degree sound field and hear them out loud.
When it released its new line in 2009, Logitech went away from the modern, squarish design of its USB-powered Z5 omnidirectional speakers and shifted to a more traditional PC speaker design.
Good sound for the money; Strong bass; Good connectivity options; Volume and bass controls
You wouldn't call it snazzy; Doesn't offer all that much in the way of acoustic detail
This review might carry an overly pessimistic tone which belies the worth of this system. Any of the above issues aren't uncommon in this price bracket, and there are far worse 2.1 systems available for the same money.
The Speaker System Z523 is a good option if you're after a reasonably affordable PC-speaker set with a subwoofer. Pricier speakers offer more detailed audio, but the Z523's sound quality is decent enough, offering plenty of bass.
Good sound quality for the money; Strong bass performance; Plenty of connectivity options; Handy volume and bass controls
Audio could be more detailed and clear
