Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch Keyboard Review

The inexpensive Logitech K400 Plus will do for typing up something in a pinch, or navigating a home theater PC, but this keyboard-and-touchpad combo isn't fit for extended use. The Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch Keyboard ($27.99) has been floating around for the better part of a decade. It's a wireless keyboard and touchpad in one unit, designed for connecting to a home theater PC or any other device to which it would be inconvenient to connect twin wired (or even wireless) peripherals. Unfortunately, its quality reflects its price. It’s no fun to type on; it can't be used in a darkened room due to a lack of backlighting; and it doesn’t support Bluetooth, limiting the number of everyday gadgets you can connect it to. Few keyboards out there still serve the niche it does, which helps explain its longevity. But if you're in the market for one, shop around for comparable models with Bluetooth, backlighting, or both, or stretch your budget to a higher-quality alternative such as the Lenovo ThinkPad TrackPoint Keyboard. Keeping It Basic and Cheap On a single chassis, the Logitech K400 Plus packs a tight little keyboard and a modestly sized touchpad to the ...
Pros:
  • Inexpensive
  • All-in-one keyboard with touchpad
  • Uses Logitech Unifying Receiver
Cons:
  • Dismal typing experience
  • Cheap-feeling, flimsy plastic build
  • No backlighting
  • No Bluetooth

Perfect for PC at the TV

I'm not a fan of small keyboards or touchpads, but for a PC at our TV this keyboard is perfect. Windows 10 sees the receiver dongle immediately and the keyboard works flawlessly. The left mouse button at upper left is a nice touch, and the on-off switch will help save battery time.

I needed a compact keyboard with touchpad for HTPC, and this keyboard works ok in general, but its quality is very disappointing. Typing is awful compared to a proper Das Keyboard mechanical keyboard but I could have been spoiled by using mechanical keyboards for years.

space saving

I got this keyboard for my desktop computer. I have a standing workstation with limited space on the shelf with my monitor, speakers, and a printer occupying the same shelf that my keyboard and mouse occupied.

You can't go wrong with Logitech

This isn't the first Logitech product I've bought and certainly won't be the last. This is everything you'd want in a couchside keyboard. It's lightweight without feeling cheap and it's nice and responsive.

Reliable and Well Made

We've used this for years now and it still performs well. Perfect for children as the keyboard is perfect for small hands. Easy to pair and batteries last a long time. As soon as my child outgrows this I'll likely either give it to someone with small children or pair it to some wireless device I...

Works as lounge Android smart TV or Xbox keyboard

Plug the dongle into TV/Xbox USB port and it works straight away. Typing into search boxes e.g. YouTube like a dream. Trackpad works nicely as a mouse on my Sony TV menus, YouTube and Opera browser along with keyboard, though not all kinds of links in Opera are clickable for some reason.

The major problem with this keyboard is that there is no indication when the Caps Lock has been pressed. This is a major design fault that can result in password entry issues.
