There are three variations of headsets gamers desire: the cheap ones just for console chat, expensive, surround-sound multipurpose headsets, and those falling somewhere in between the two extremes.

in my day so I've gotten pretty familiar with how they are. With the return of Logitech's G series, they have released a few new headsets that remind me of the ones of old. Today, I have the Logitech G430 gaming headset with me and I put it through its paces with some games and tunes.
It's finally here. After being blown away by the stereo audio peformance on the crimson-clad G230 headphones from , we're back with the 7.1 surround version. They're not colored in the same sexy red-on-black motif.
Amazing surround performance effectively envelops the user; Comfortable; USB adapter included for additional connection options; Software utilities offer added tweak options; Rotating ear cushions lay flat; Great price
True potential requires off-board sound processing (ie soundcard or after-market amplifier); No optical connection and thus outpaced by Creative's Wireless; Look is too familiar
The sound is very good; the cord is long; has USB input

Good microphone with good flexibility and sound quality; Ear coverings fit well over most heads and has a comfortable feel to it
After 1 and a half years of relatively heavy use, the pivot on the ear muffs wears down and brakes; This is indicative of the plastic used for the pivots in the headset; I've ordered this headset twice over the course of 3 -2 1/2 years and I'm just going to move onto a sturdier headset due to the...
Logitech's new release of the next line of headphones is out and they were gracious enough to send us a pair. Wrapped in a revealing box, the Logitech G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset looks good in person and on paper. But looks aren't everything. Let us tell you about our experience.

Logitech has been on the top of their game lately, especially in regards to their lineup of gaming products. I recently reviewed the Logitech G700s Gaming Mouse, and was extremely impressed with it.
