Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse - Lilac 910-006040 review

Gamers looking for the right wireless mouse are in a tricky spot. You want the same latency you’ll get with a wired mouse, a sensor that’s at least passable for gaming, and a battery life that won’t leave you recharging in the middle of your match.

Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse Review

It's been two years since the debut of the Logitech G900 Chaos Spectrum($86.99 at Logitech G UK)(Opens in a new window), the wireless gaming mouse that made lower latency a spec that mice of its type should aspire to. In all but name, the Chaos Spectrum wielded the same Lightspeed wireless technology that now powers the all-new Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse ($59.99). Logitech claims it will take just 1 millisecond (ms) from the time you click a button to the time that that alien craft gets blown to smithereens in your favorite space shooter. We couldn't quite measure that, but our hand did tell us this is one snappy gaming mouse for a wireless model. It's also a fairly basic one. The Logitech G305 Lightspeed lacks many of the features you would expect from a high-end wireless gaming mouse like the Logitech G903 Lightspeed($86.99 at Logitech G UK)(Opens in a new window). The big strength of the G305: It migrates the same wireless functionality in that killer mouse...

Subdued in style, the Logitech G305 Lightspeed seems a basic gaming mouse at first blush. Get your hand on it, though, and you'll appreciate its high-end wireless tech at a modest price.

Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse - Lilac 910-006040 review

The HP Omen Mouse 600 packs a shooter-game-focused arsenal of features (sniper button, removable weights) into a solid impulse-buy gaming mouse.

Aggressive price; Color-changing logo and scroll wheel; Sensor boasts high sensitivity threshold; Removable weights and sniper button.

Limited customization; No designated color-swap button.

Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse - Lilac 910-006040 review

I think it’s safe to say that Logitech has been crafting some really solid gaming mice lately. Back in March, I reviewed the G703 and G903 gaming mice, which both come with all the bells and whistles: RGB lighting, Powerplay support, HERO sensors, and LIGHTSPEED technology.

LIGHTSPEED technology at a more mainstream price; Long life from a single AA battery; Simple customization through Logitech Gaming Software; $60 is a good price for what you get

RGB fanatics should look elsewhere; G305 feels a little lightweight and small in the hand

Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse - Lilac 910-006040 review

This is one of those odd occasions where there is very little else to talk about. The mouse ‘just works’ and it’s pretty simple to use. It doesn’t need 40 buttons and absurd configurations, nor a labyrinth of options to set custom lighting since there is, for once, no RGB.

Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse - Lilac 910-006040 review

This mouse is basically the third to use the shell of the original G Pro, but this time around, it came in a wireless version. The G305 is a mouse I would use without hesitation if only it would suit my hands a bit better.

Great sensor; Main buttons and scroll wheel feel nice and crisp; Exceptional Lightspeed wireless technology; Safe; widely usable shape; Up to 250 hours of battery life; Excellent build quality; Great software

Main switches only rated for 10 million clicks; Side buttons have a lot of travel; Mouse feet could be better; Heavy and sluggish with the default battery
