Excellent quality laptop!
Easy to swap parts, and built like a tank. Fast processor, and what a great keyboard layout! This is my first ThinkPad, and I can see myself using this one for a long time. Xubuntu 16.04 64-bit installed without any hitch on my mSata drive, and all hardware is fully compatible.
It's a reasonable machine, and decent mix of components for the money, but a missing hard drive caddy meant extra parts before it could be considered reliable.
The missing part is small and inexpensive enough that it is not a big deal, but I would have preferred not to have had to go through the trouble of finding another one to make the machine usable.- Decent performance for the price point
- including RAM and HDD
- HDD was installed without hard drive caddy
- which meant it would come lose when the laptop was moved
Hideous screen Blob of discolored pixels lower Left.
The permanent blob of discolored pixels on the lower left of the screen shows as a brown blob on a white space window such as Notepad, see blob photo on the Windows blue sky background. A large lump of dysfunctional pixels. No DVD reader.
Very functional with some extra fluff harware.
This is a good unit, it has become my second office computer. It is used for printing documents, labels, and Power Point speech notes. I like the keyboard on the Lenovo G570 much better with the wider spaced keys. The performance is very good.
EXCELLENT choice!
my last laptop was dual core, this is a quad. This is thinner than my last, and best of all "lighter" It is possible to get bigger and better, and still be less weight! best of all is the little red, scroll throttle in the middle, makes all uses more simple, I still have to remind myself to use it...
Fisrt I'll start with a description of my use of the computer and my history with Laptop. My main uses are : Development under eclipse (java, groovy, ....) Usual Web surfing, time wasting online.
Lenovo ThinkPad T520 Review
Click to EnlargeWhile it's a bit thick and heavy for a 15-inch laptop, the $1,299 Lenovo ThinkPad T520 offers business users everything they need: good performance, durability, and security. Of course, you also get Lenovo's trademark fantastic keyboard and accurate pointing stick.
Excellent music production laptop.
It's a great computer. I use mine to run Cubase and a bunch of VST's. I have had no performance issues so far. Handles lots of resource hungry plug-ins without so much as missing a beat. The build quality is almost astounding. It being let down only for the screen bezel and a flimsy cd/dvd tray.
