Homefront

Kaos Studios bravely hits the market with a new shooter entitled Homefront. The first game from these guys was called Frontlines: Fuel of War and received a generally lukewarm reception, in addition to extreme criticism due to severe technical flaws.

The franchise has potential; but the multiplayer might be the only real attraction here

Perhaps next time they might consider a lengthier single-player campaign; weak characters and boring plot; gameplay is too derivative of certain triple-A shooters

Homefront Review

Alternate histories are often some of the most interesting fiction. With the onslaught of first-person shooters hitting the market these days, it is hard to stand out.

+ Interesting narrative; + Multiplayer is lots of fun

Very short campaign; Dated visuals; Shooting feels uninspired; Lack of maps online

Homefront

If Homefront's frightening fictional possibility ever became real - North Korea rising to become a world superpower and occupying the United States - it's reassuring to know that we can take back our country with just a four-hour struggle. Homefront's "The Koreans are coming!

+ Polished; engaging multiplayer modes; + Some shocking; cool moments in single-player campaign

- Said campaign is laughably short; game sticks close to the Call of Duty gameplay formula, ? What would really happen if gas hit $15/gallon?

Homefront Review

THQ has been unleashing a monster of a hype machine for Homefront since the game was first announced. The company is clearly attempting to set Activision's Call of Duty and EA's Medal of Honor in their sights, with the game's mix of near-future, military-themed combat and effectively scary premise...

Great multiplayer; Some intense large-scale battles; Excellent variety of vehicles and weapons

Incredibly over-scripted; Reliance on cheap effects like endlessly respawning enemies; Incredibly short single-player campaign

C'mon! Through the White Castle!

I think we're at something of a crossroads when it comes to dealing with war in games. Despite the numerous advances in storytelling over the past few years, we have yet to see gaming's Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket .

Running over someone with the humvee in multiplayer

Being killed by an unseen grenade/gas barrel/guy hitting me with the butt of a gun while my AI teammates shoot backwards

Homefront

Comment on this video Watch this video in High Def The diverse mechanics that combine to make Homefront's multiplayer what it is may be familiar to genre veterans, but they are well integrated and achieve a nice balance.

Unflinching representation of military occupation; Some very memorable moments; Well-crafted online multiplayer

Very short campaign ends abruptly; Action feels overly familiar; Multiplayer makes no use of intriguing setting

Homefront Review

Admit it, the premise does seem silly at first. North Korea? Invading the United States? By land? Is this serious? Of course, it turns out that Homefront 's author, John Milius - the guy that wrote and directed cult classic movie Red Dawn - wasn't expecting you to believe that this could happen just...

Homefront

In the year 2027, the United States of America is faced with an invasive threat. The Greater Korean Republic and its armed forces have taken control of the once productive country, after some years of hardship due to economic downturn.

Homefront

It was 1999 and a new century was around the corner (more or less for those more technical types). For the past 15 years or so I had been eagerly awaiting a new Star Wars movie and with great happiness and more than a bit of wonder the time had arrived.

Homefront

Overall, Homefront is a game, that in the time period from when it was announced, to it's release....was clearly rushed. The game was announced back in the middle of 2010. From then, up to March 2011, the game had plenty of time to be tested, certified, and solidified.
